dana came by this morning for a nice little visit. she im'ed me the other day to tell me that she was going to exchange some earrings that parkin and i had gotten her at tiffany's for the mesh ring that she'd been eyeing. i was bummed, cuz i've been eyeing that ring too. so when she came over this morning to show me her new piece of jewelery, i was like, 'oh, how nice' but inside, i was burning with jealousy. then she turned around, picked up something, came back towards me and handed me a tiffany's bag! no one has ever handed me a tiffany's bag before! is it... could it be? i read the card first and almost cried. there were really nice words written in there, *blushing* and went over to hug her. i opened the blue bag, pulled out the tissue, picked up the blue box, opened it up and it was the mesh ring!!! i was so excited, then felt all guilty for my fake 'oh, how nice' comment. i took the ring in my hand and put it on my middle finger... but it got stuck halfway through! oh no! i pushed harder, but it wouldn't fit! it was too small. nooo!!! she was just as surprised as i was. my engagement ring, a perfect fit was a 4 and 3/4, so she got me a size 6 knowing that i would wear it on my other hand middle finger. it wouldn't fit! i tried on her 7 and it almost didnt' fit either until i loosened it. bigeezuz! my right hand middle finger is chubby considering the size of my wedding ring finger! that bites! i had to put the ring back into the blue box and then back into the little blue bag. later i convinced parkin to stop by valley fair to exchange the ring on the way to my cousin's house for their pre-wedding bbq that he and his fiance put together. when we got to valley fair, i looked frantically around for tiffany's. when we finally got to the door, it was closed! the curtains were all drawn up and doors were locked! nooooo!!!! *pout* no mesh ring for me to wear tonight or tomorrow. darnit!
i still can't believe that dana got the ring for me. that was just the sweetest gesture and it ain't a cheap gesture at that. she's always been very good to me, taking me out for drinks, lunch, or dinner when i wasn't financially stable, even now when i am a bit more stable she still treats me to things. and even tho she's not the wealthiest girl in the world, she still manages to surprise me with this awesome gift. i'm such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful cousin and friend in my life. i know i've said this before, but i couldn't have chosen anyone else but her as my maid of honor. no other friendship i have compares to that of what we have shared together and battled in our lives.
parkin and i went over to jr's house for the bbq after valley fair. jr and clarissa had a pre-wedding bbq to get a few members of the wedding party and some friends and family together. it was a lot of fun and my cousins rick and regina from la came up to surprise us! parkin had to leave early to pick his parents up at the airport, but i stayed to have some fun with my little nieces and nephews. here are some pictures from tonight courtesy of parkin's digi. |
