when i got home last night, the last thing i wanted to do was pack, so i wrote out a list of what i wanted to bring while jung and my cousins played mj. so i got home around 2:30 and got to sleep before 3. i got up this morning, showered, packed, dressed and got to jung's house right at 9 am. as i parked, i saw mr jung open his garage door and come outside. *whew* parkin wasn't quite ready tho, so we dilly dallied for a bit and finally left his house a bit after 9:15. we went to jack in a box for breakfast and were on our way to yosemite around 10am. after we crossed the bridge, i pulled out a book to read, but a page into reading, my eyelids drooped over my eyes and i put the book down and fell down to rest. i was pooped from the lack of sleep from yesterday. i woke up to the sound of crunching and munchings, but feel back to slumber for another 20 minutes or so. when i finally sat up, jung's mom gave me a bag of fruit and i felt better. parkin and i talked while his parents did the same up in front, and we watched the scenery around us. we had planned on going to our hotel first, but we were running on good time, so we headed straight to yosemite. the roads were pretty windy and mr jung was hanging tight on all the turns. parkin felt headachy and the both of us fell asleep after awhile. we woke up and were almost there, but not quite. when we finally arrived to 'bridalveil' a little waterfall off of the mountain, we got out to take some pictures and walk around. after that, we went deeper into the park and got out to eat a late lunch. while we were eating, parkin's dad said, "so that's it right? nothing more to see?" i was appalled at his words... nothing more to see? there's plenty more to see in my eyes! parkin answered by saying no, there's more. "what, more mountains? same as what we just saw! no need to come back tomorrow" i just sat quietly shaking my head. i had hoped to walk some trails and hike a little, but had a feeling that we wouldn't be able to this time round with his parents. his dad was wearing a suit for goshness sake!
so after lunch, parkin and i decided to rent some bikes and go for a ride along a bike trail and sight see on our own. ahh, it was such a beautiful yet excilerating ride. the weather was perfect and the air was cool, we weaved our way around the trail, got to the entrance to mirror lake and walked into the area since we couldnt' ride through. it was so serene at mirror lake, and we caught a sight of half dome from there. it was quiet except for the occassional chirping bird and passerbyer. i felt like i was sitting on a rock in a photograph. it's a memory that i know that i can go back to in the back of my mind whenever i feel stressed out. i was bummed that i was unable to bring my camera tho! nest time. ;)
renting the bikes made me realize how much i enjoy and miss riding! when i was a kid, everyday after school, i'd meet up with my friends around the block and we'd ride around the neighborhood. even on weekends when my family met up with dana's family, we'd go play at the park and ride around. those memories flushed around in my head, and now i can't wait to get a bike of my own to ride around on the weekends with parkin. but after 2 and a half hours of riding, i also realized how out of shape i am!!! by 8pm, my thighs were sore as hell! i stretched and stretched, but nothing helped until parkin did a super fast beating on it for a few minutes to break out the muscle tension.
yosemite was beautiful. i hope that i have the chance to go again. i'm sure i will. |
