on the way to the hotel last night, we kept seeing signs of a casino nearby and parkin's dad kept joking about going there.  in the morning during breakfast, he hinted that he really didnt' want to go back to yosemite and pointed to the casino pamphlet, so we decided to stop by the casino and see how it was.  if it was busy, we'd just stay there for a few minutes, but if it was not too busy, we'd stay for a couple hours, have lunch and head out to venture the towns.
mr and mrs jung                                                                   the future mr and mrs jung... heehee

so we walked into the air conditioned casino and after getting my hand stamped at the door, i saw a quarter on the floor.  woohoo!  i'm already up a quarter!  parkin's mom noticed me picking up the coin and said, "wow, you found a coin on the floor!  it's your lucky day!"  i debated whether or not to use it, to leave up a quarter, haha, or lose it in a slot machine.  parkin sat down at a table and learned how to play 3 card poker, and sadly lost quite quickly.  because we hadn't anticipated coming to a casino, we only had a few dollars in our wallets.
after the tables, i decided to play some slots.  i saw a wheel of fortune slot machine against the wall, and remembering how lucky dana and brian were on those machines in reno last year, i picked out my machine and tried to slip $20 bucks in.  it kept rejecting it and i should have taken that as a sign, but i took a $10 bill outta my wallet and it went in smoofly.  the 10 bucks dwindled fast and i still wanted to play, so parkin changed my 20 to two 10's and i put them into the machine chanting silent luck to myself.  unfortunately it dwindled away even faster and i had no more money in my wallet.  seriously, it was empty.  i stood up disappointed and almost bumped into the guy who was ready to take my place.  'sarah, walk away from the machine,' i told myself.  i walked off, parkin stayed and i tried so hard to not look back, but as soon as i did, i saw my ex-machine do a spin on the wheel and land on 100.  NOOOOO!  that's not fair!  that was my machine!  i wanted to kick myself for leaving that machine, but i had no choice!  i had no more money!  i had a huge frown on my face as parkin came to me.  he was holding a handful of quarters and said, "the man just sat down and put a few quarters in and already spun!  after he won, he gave me this quarters to give to you and said sorry"  that was really nice of the guy... i guess.  then i looked towards the machine again, and it was spinning the wheel AGAIN!  NOT FAIR!  in the 10-15 mintues that i sat at the machine, i got no spin, and in the 2 minute span that this man took over, he spun twice!  another 100 or so coins!   *pout*   i took the handful of quarters and found a video poker machine and played, kicking myself mentally in the ass.  i turned one more time and saw that the wheel was on 40, which meant that the guy spun AGAIN!  aghh, that made me so upset.

parkin and i sullenly walked around and found his father at a slot machine.  he asked us how we were doing, and we both said that we lost all of our money.  he handed us a 100 dollar bill and told us to split it.  cool!  should i go back to the wheel of fortune machine?  nah.  we decided to try our hands at the 3 card poker again.  first hand, a pair.  sweet!  from then on, it was downhill and i left the table with $10, and parkin with none.  damn.  i would have played the rest, but couldn't.  i was $5 short, so we got up and wandered around some more.  we ended up splitting up for some time, then i decided to change my chips to dollar coins to play the rest on some slots.  at the change bar, i ran into parkin and he was holding a bucket of coins!  what the.... oh, his mom had won and he was changing the money for her.  cool!  yay for her, at least someone was winning.  haha.  on the way back to his mom, i saw an 'american beauty' machine.  i like that movie, maybe i should try that machine.  we went over to give his mom her winnings, and she handed us both $20.  parkin went to a machine nearby and stuck his money in.  i decided to go to the 'american beauty' machine right behind and try my luck there with the $30 i had in my hand.

always play max, parkin said to me a long time ago, so i put 3 coins in.  lost.  3 more coins. lost.  *sigh*  i put in the $20, then cashed it out so that i could play the machines around me.  3 coins here, 3 more there... it was going fast and it was almost over.  i had less than $10 left and thought that it was over.  i pulled the lever and this appeared: ROSE - ROSE - 7.  what's that mean?  it has to win something right?  what's a rose?  wild i think.  nothings happening tho.  i looked around the machine to see what the payout is for roses.  at least 20 coins i would think.  suddenly, on the little electronic screen, it scrolls, -HANDPAY 1680 CREDITS... CALL ATTENDANT.... HANDPAY 1680 CREDITS...CALL ATTENDANT-
huh? i was in shock and looked around for an attendant.  suddenly loud happy music started playing, and still not realizing what just happened, i looked around.  the couple next to me said, "you just won one thousand, six hundred and eighty dollars!"  i did? parkin suddenly appeared behind me with a big smile on his face.  'you won!'  it finally hit me then and a HUGE smile slowly spread across my face.  i started doing a little happy bounce on my seat and an attendant came up to me and congratulated me.  she took my driver's license and social security card and i soaked in the winning sensation.  i can't even describe how happy i felt at that moment.  i have never won from gambling, hell, i've never  won that much money before in my life.  a thousand dollars!?  i felt like a little kid sitting there, i wouldn't even leave my chair because i was afraid that if i stood up, the music would stop and i wouldn't get my money.  so i sat there patiently waiting for the attendant to come back.  i soooo wanted to take a picture, but i knew that there were camera's everywhere and didnt' want to risk it.  the woman finally came back with a stack of money.  i held out both hands as she counted out sixteen hundred and eighty dollars into my hand.  YAY!  IT's MINE, ALL MINE!  i played out the rest of the coins in the machine and walked over to mr and mrs jung.  i handed them each $100, gave parkin $60, pocketed the rest and sat down near them with the smile that just wouldn't go away.
