we caught the first showing, and i'm so glad we did. parking was a breeze, lines were short, we got the bargain matinee price of $6.00, (what a steal!) and we got perfect seats. the movie was entertaining, i didn't know lara flynn boyle was such a hottie! i always knew that she was super skinny from watching the practice on abc, but she's pretty fit under the suits! i want her abs!
after mib, we walked around to see what else was showing. being the sneaky little cheapies we are, we walked into watch mr. deeds and i wish we didn't. i didn't enjoy that too much and i was happy for the movie to end. after the movie we went to westlake's king wah for some last minute dim sum. parkin and i go there at least once a month for dim sum because the prices and food is decent. unfortunately they ddint' tell us that the only cart that came our way was the last cart of the afternoon, so we didnt' get to eat that much. i was still a bit hungry but that's ok.
ye needed to return something at the mall, so we packed into his car and went to stonestown. i was on a shopping kick for some reason, and bought a couple of shirts and tanks at j-crew, i've never shopped there before, but there were some cute things on sale. then i bought a pair of tennis shoes at bakers, a similar cheapy shoe store to leeds. i like shopping with ye because he's very patient and usually buys something too, so it doesn't make me feel like i'm the only one shopping and rushy. :)
after the long day at the movies and shopping, we were pooped. we head over to ye's apartment and rested, then our tummies grumbled. ye offered to make us some ramen and we could not resist. ye is the ramen king. he has all kinds stocked in his kitchen and gave us our picks. ye doesn't JUST boil water and cook the ramen tho, he goes all out. veggies, meat, AND egg. YUUUUUUMMMY! a meal in itself.
parkin brought over the portable mj table and mah jong set that he borrowed from jeff and got it ready to teach ye the game. as we were teaching ye the basics, our friend moe, (ye's sister) and my cousin dave, (who is dating moe,) came home from dinner at dave's grandparents. they were really excited to see us there with the mj set because they wanted to learn how to play as well. a few weeks ago, parkin went out with ye, moe and dave and they talked about someday playing. since then, parkin sent them the rules of the game and couldnt' wait to have mj players to play with. like i said before, parkin's become and mj fanatic, so he's been so excited that our friends have been interested to learn.
it was about 11pm when moe and dave came back, and we went through the rules with them. dave had a good memory of the game because we used to play when we were kids when our parents took breaks. he needed a refresher but got back on track real quick. the kyaws, ye and moe, learned the game very quickly. we were really impressed with how quickly they absorbed the rules and played because the game is not easy! the rules are a bit complicated to learn, but they did real well.
the five of us played, moe and dave partnered up for awhile, then i got really tired around 1 and the 4 of them played on while i rested on the couch. i was really surprised because even tho dave, moe and ye said they were really tired, i thought that they would just continue playing for another half hour or so. i ended up falling asleep to the other sister on tv and woke up around 3am. they had JUST finished playing and were cleaning up. wow. parkin then told me that he was just as surprised and offered throughout the night for a rest from the game, but the 3 of them wanted to keep playing! *cool!* we had a really fun night. again! again!
