i had a reading today with the new cast of et's next short film. my friend liz is the lead character and she's perfect for the part. i'd never seen her act besides the kaiser troop that she performed with for little kids. ;) she's awesome and i'm stoked that we will get to work together on this film. after the reading i met up with my cousin dana. she wanted to go with me to visit my dad at the hospital, so we planned to meet at my house after work and my reading. unfortunately i got home a little later than planned, so she picked up some food. we took a brisk walk around the hills of millbrae, (dude, she walks pretty fast and i had to huff and puff to keep up with her) let out our frustrations on daily life, and had a quick dinner before heading over to the hospital. my dad was so excited to see her. as soon as he saw her walk thru the door, his face lit up and joked with her that she can't come in yet because he was indescent, then covered himself. my dad was lucky to have gotten a room to himself at the end of the hall, and we talked among ourselves excitedly. my dad loves to have company, i mean who wouldn't, after being in the hospital day in, day out, seeing the same people, sitting around. about 10 minutes after arriving, a nurse came in and snapped at us. it wasn't even 10pm yet and she said in a very rude tone, 'it's 10 o'clock and there are sick people trying to rest around here. you guys have to keep it down.' or something like that. i was appalled by her tone. my dad has been in the hosptial numerous times in the past 8 years, especially this particular one, and the nurses are usually very nice, so this particular nurse shocked me. she must have been having a bad day. as dana and i left the room, she noticed that the nurse was in a room with the lights off. very weird. i also noticed that there actually weren't a lot of patients around my daddy's room. hmph. |
