oh it's a chilly november morning. *shivers* happy november everybody! hope ya'll had a safe and fun halloween filled with lots of candy yesterday. broadway prime was yummy last night. *burp* haven't done one in awhile, so here's my wedding update! wedding gown ~ the hardest thing for me wasn't finding a dress that i liked, it was deciding or actually finding a good deal on it. i actually tried on the dress i ended up ordering that first time i went dress shopping with my cousin dana. the dresses i tried on there on after were very similar in style but not within my price range or not as 'ahhhh, nice and comfy' or as my sister in law would say, 'not as wow'. unfortunately i went over my budget on this wedding gown, almost $300 more than i had hoped to spend but i just could not find anything less expensive that i felt as comfortable in as i did in this particular gown. but i did get a great deal from HOUSE OF BRIDES online. thanks to my friend dave for attempting to help me search for the dress, and my friend tyrone who made sure that the website where i ended up ordering the dress was legit. you both helped me calm my nerves during my purchase and the decision making process. the good thing about my purchasing the dress online was that there was no tax or shipping fee. yay! a couple of people suggested that i get the dress made and i have to say that i considered the option, but my fear was that the gown would not fit as perfectly as it did in the stores. i have to admit that the size 10 gowns that i tried on at the stores were a perfect fit. i know that i will need very little alterations when i receive my gown and if i were to get the dress made, yes it would be measured to my body, but what if the bodice portion was not where it really should be or the beading wasn't set as well on the dress as the original? i guess i'm being a bit particular, but i guess i felt that since i tried on the dress with perfect fit, anything else would not have felt right. does that make any sense? plus organza is quite expensive, so the cost of labor and material might end up costing the same as how much i paid for the dress online. yeah, i'm just trying to make myself feel better about my decision. so anyhow, the dress is ordered and i feel a huge weight lifted. well, i'm still a bit nervous about it and that nervousness won't go away until i have the dress in my arms, but i'll have to be patient for 12-16 weeks. favors ~ parkin and i received our favors in the mail this week and i love em! my dad spilled the beans to my aunt on what it was and i scolded him for it. he knew that we wanted to keep it a surprise for our guests but he told my aunt, and news travels fast around my family, so i think all my aunts and cousins will know by christmas. *darnit* unfortunately tho, the color of the favor isn't exactly what we wanted. it looked more deep pink than purple, but there's nothing we can do about it now. we ordered A LOT and know that we will have so much to spare, but it's ok. we can use the extras for years to come. cake ~ we are going cake tasting this weekend. YUM! we are going to try an apricot custard on white cake, strawberry jam on white cake, mocha on chocolate cake, and raspberry custard on white cake. i think those are the flavors. i didn't even know that schuberts in san francisco made wedding cakes, but they have the best mango mousse cake. mmmm.... there are a couple of other bakeries that i would like to have tastings with, but i figured that i shouldn't make appointments for more than one per day. should i? maybe i should... ;) photography ~ also meeting with john louie of dreamfactory studios on saturday to talk about the timelines, locations, style, packages, etc. my friend ben also went wedding studio hunting for us in hong kong this past week with his co-worker. he was able to find us a couple of great studios and will be making an appointment for us today, so we will be taking our engagement photos at 'noel chu' which is right by our hotel in hong kong. we had originally decided on mona lisa bridal where singer actress sammi cheung was a spokesmodel, but when i talked to ben about the packages last night, he informed me that we would have to RENT the clothes on top of the package fee, so we opted for noel chu where it was all inclusive plus we get to take real outdoor shots around hong kong, which ben recommended because they look really neat-o and not mahcheezmoey at all. florist ~ wow, flowers are so expensive. i haven't been able to find one yet. my cousin recommended his friend but he hasnt' called me back yet. when i called one place for an appointment, she asked me a few questions then quoted me a price and it was well over our budget, so i didn't bother setting up a consulation, didn't want to waste her time. still looking... videography ~ still looking for this one too, one that will video the whole day plus do a slideshow during the reception. hmm, i think that's all for now. stay tuned for more wedding updates in the weeks to come! ~ today is going to be a long work day because i'm looking forward to tonight's soiree and weekend activities. plus the countdown to our trip to hong kong has begun!!!! - t minus 18 days - did i count that right? we're leaving on the night of the 18th, so do i count the eighteenth day? *raise eyebrow* should i add the hours too? nah, too complicated. :D have a wondeful weekend everybody! no friday five today *waves* ~ |
