today was a very mellow day. it marked a middlepoint of our trip because it was time to move out of our hotel room and into ben's apartment for 3 nights. we woke up a little later than planned and finished packing up our stuff. luckily i had brought an extra piece of luggage in my suitcase. we filled it with laundry and shoes, then filled our own suitcases with our new goodies. after we packed up, we left room 5048 and head downstairs to check out and left our luggage at the bell hop's desk. we walked around granville street and shopped around, had some snacks, then mtr'd it over to mong kok and flower street market. we were also looking for the SINO building. my cousin told us to check that place out for electronics and dvd's. no such luck finding the place tho. i was thinking about purchasing a digi cam out there, but didnt' see anything special. we checked the time and head back to the marimar hotel where we planned to meet my uncle norman and aunt jenny. uncle norman met us at the lobby and took us across the street to the marimar shopping center, then proceeded to take us to the restaurant, old hong kong where my aunt jenny was waiting for us. there, we had the best hong kong dinner ever! yum, the food was tasty and so delicious. parkin and i were stuffed afterwards. man, it was good. all night i tried to convince them to come to our wedding next year. my uncle norman is so up for it, but i think my aunt jenny is apprehensive... money/work/time being the big issue. hopefully they make it tho, my father would be so happy to have them attend. my uncle norman is my dad's best friend. they have many memories together and have a blast when they are together uncle norman and aunt jenny have been waiting for years for dad to visit them in hong kong. now he can! (read journal 12/15) after a delightful dinner, we walked around the shopping center then said our goodbye's outside. it was such a treat to see them again. ben met us at the marimar hotel lobby and we head to his apartment in quarry bay. my hong kong home, i like to call it. it hadn't changed one bit! after settling in for a bit and having a couple of drinks, we retired to bed. ~ |
