HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GAU2, THE BESTEST BIG BROTHER IN THE WORLD!
damn, we slept in for the first time this whole trip.  when i say slept in, i really mean slept in.  i don't think we got out of bed until noon.  i sort of regretted it, but it was a rainy day and we had no immediate plans to get to.  we got ready and head downstairs to find food at the nearby restaurants and we picked one.  parkin had chicken and corn over rice and i had some beef chow fun.  mm, yum.  we explored quarry bay and it's little shops then head back to tst's NOEL CHU studio.  it was time to see our proofs.  i was a bit nervous, and as soon as i saw the first picture, i was very disappointed.  i think i already talked about the not so great experience the day of the shoot, but seeing the pictures reaffirmed that the photographer SUCKED!

ming, the makeup artist, was the one we worked with while looking at the photos.  she told us to make two seperate piles as she showed us sets of the photos.  the no pile was stacked with pictures and as we looked at the yes pile, we complained that we spent so much money on the outdoor shots.  she even laughed at some of the poses the photographer made us do in the pictures.  ben suggested we complain and complain until she offered us some freebies.  unfortunately we could not complain enough to get our money back, $3000HKD.  *sigh*  she told us that the fee was already paid to the photographer, film, and driver.

after seeing the outdoor shots, we viewed the studio shots.  they came out so much better and we were very impressed.
guhm, the photographer was there and he and ming both said that i looked like a chinese movie star, whose name i have no clue who she is.  still, it was cool.  *beams*  parkin looked *SO* handsome in the pictures.  we repeated over and over again that we wished that guhm and choong were the photographers for our outdoor shots.  after viewing about 300 pictures, we went over our package... that is added to our original package.  our original package didn't include much, for instance, no wedding portrait album.  i thought it wouldn't be too bad to add it, but it was.  to make a long story short, we spent a couple more thousands of hong kong dollars than we originally planned.  i felt bad because i think that ming did feel bad about the whole outdoor shot fiasco.  she threw in an enlargement of our poster picture, added photo frames, as well as all the proofs and negatives.  originally, we would have had to pay $128HKD per negative and we would not have gotten the rest of the proofs, just the ones that we chose to enlarge or add to the book.  so in retrospect, ming saved us several hundreds of hong kong dollars and a huge frame for our large poster size portrait.  it's gonna be a big one.  24x30.  we had planned to hang it over our bed, but i think we'll place it on the wall next to the bed instead.  it's a funny picture i think.  there were 2 pictures we really liked and had a hard time chosing between.  one was in the wedding gear, the other in my red dress.  it's hard to explain, but we opted for the red dress one because we knew that every time we looked at it, we would smile.  i do wish now that we had the other one... sort of cuz it's more traditional, but too late now!  *damnit*  i dont' regret it really, not too much at least.

poor ben, he's going to pick up the book and poster for us in march.  yes you heard me right.  march is when the pictures are suppose to be ready.  crazy huh!  i don't know why it takes that long and i wished that i had told them a lie, that we needed it sooner, but again.  too late.  parkin and i have talked about it tho, and he's going to call them to rush them.  that we need them for some engagement party or something.  haha.  hopefully they buy it.

after spending 3 hours at the studio picking and choosing, we got a snack of $10 wonton mein again. mmm... then we went to shop for our parents at his mom's favorite store in hong kong.  we didnt' find too much tho.  plus it was pricey there.  get this, parkin got an egzima (sp?) rash while we were there.  well, it's a rash that he's had this past year, but inflamed while we were in hong kong.  when we went to china, i bought him some chinese cream for 2 bucks and it worked miraculously.  the rash disappeared and parkin felt much better.  at yue wa, the store his mom likes, they sold it for $28!  dayam!  what a profit for the store!
parkin wanted to find out what other cream would be good.  he was going to remember it and buy it in china for cheaper, so he asked a saleswoman.  he showed her the rash and she quickly stepped back, made a sour face, and said in chinese,  "GO SEE A DOCTOR!  i dont' know what that is, you should go see a doctor!  i can't recommend anything for that unless i knew what it was.  and i don't.  go see a doctor!"  it was so funny, the way she yelped and ran from parkin, quickly covering her mouth as if he was going to infect her.  we laughed and looked at the medicine, then left to meet ben for dinner.

after dinner, we went to the HMV to check out the cd's.  parkin picked up sammi's newest cd which came out that day and a couple of other sammi cd's he didnt have.  what a fan.  we went back to ben's to watch some tv and hang out.  it was a kick back day.
i want to share more pics on this day, but geocities doesn't give me much space.  sorry.  here's one of me and ben before dinner.
