thursday, november 28 happy turkey day! *gobble gobble* |
|||||||||
i don't know why, but it happened again. we woke up late once again and started the day late. ben's water heater was iffy this day so parkin and i both took freezing cold showers. *burr* we had lunch in quarry bay again then spent most of the afternoon repacking our suitcases. i don't know how it happened, but because i bought a couple of fleece sweaters, my suitcase was full. thanks to selina and gau2's kick ass samsonite suitcase tho, it zipped up fine. parkin, on the other hand with his ok suitcase... well his zipper broke and he had a bit of trouble zipping up. hehe we decided to do our almost daily walk around the street markets. i was thinking about heading to stanley market but because of the rain, we didnt' want to go too far and get stuck there since dana's flight was coming in that evening. instead we went to causeway bay and hit the streets and stores. we wanted to welcome dana when she arrived to her hotel, so we looked for the regal and waited for her arrival. unfortunately her flight was delayed due to the weather, and customs took longer so ben called the restuarant where we planned to have dinner, and pushed back our reservations. dana arrived and was super happy to see us there waiting for her. the regal is an awesome hotel. i'm thinking it's rated 5 star quality. the airlines sure take care of their employees! dana's room had a large king size bed, a jacuzzi, seperate shower and lots of space. it was really nice. we let dana freshen up, change out of her uniform, then we met ben at sogo. he chose a restaurant for us to have thanksgiving dinner at, so introductions were made and we were on our way! fat angelo's is where we feasted, and indeed we feasted. we had the thanksgiving dinner for 4, tho we should have gotten it for 2 because helping were huge of turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, rolls, salad, veggies, and candied yams, all family style. it was a thanksgiving dinner i'll never forget. (plus it's the only time i've ever paid for a thanksgiving dinner. haha) we had a great time, lots of laughs, and our bellies were full. after dinner, since we were right off of wan chai, ben took us to the area where they shot the film, 'the young and dangerous' series. i think most of you know what that is. haha. he brought us around the 'red light district' of hong kong. it was funny because in front of the strip clubs were not big hunky male pimps, but these old women, drawing in the boys on the streets into their clubs! hilarious! we head back to ben's apartment to hang out for a bit. parkin and i decided to stay at dana's luxurious hotel for the night since we all had planned to china the next morning. plus it was good to have an extra hand help us with our now 3 full pieces of luggage. back at the hotel, we stayed up chatting til the wee hours... it was so fun to have dana there. as much as i love parkin, dana added another special element to our trip. before we left sfo, i called dana and as we hung up, i said, "i'll see you in hong kong." how cool is that? today i was especially thankful for family and friends who i am blessed to have in my life and close to my heart. ~ |
