parkin and i had reservations to stay at the marimar hotel for one final night. we woke up this morning at the regal, had a quick bite to eat, each grabbed a suitcase, then mtr'd it over from causeway bay to tst to our hotel. because our luggage was so heavy and the tst station had no lift for us, it was hellish lugging the suitcases up the numerous flights of stairs. again, thank goodness dana was there. we checked into our hotel room and were soon on our way to shen zen. the mtr and train ride wasn't too bad, but it was really crowded at immigration. when we finally got our visas and everything else stamped, it was already past noon. there went our early start at china! immediately, we went to our seamstress on the fifth floor of lo wu and tried on our made to fit clothes. parkin's chinese jacket was very cool. my kind of wool coat was neat, but my chinese dress was not flattering at all. i guess i picked a bad style that didn't go well with my body type. oh well, i'll only be wearing it for a couple of hours. it was a bit big tho, and needed alterations so the seamster pinned the dress where it needed to be fitted, and we went to have lunch while it was being altered. dana also got measured for a couple of pairs of pants. we had dimsum at a nearby restaurant and went around lo wu shopping for clothes, dvd's, shoes, and handbags. unfortunately government was cracking down on the name brands, so they were hidden away. fortunately the airline gives the flight attendents a list of stores that they recommend. we were able to find a store that i got a prada purse from. hehe. time went fast as we shopped, and we had plans to meet ben in the evening, so we went back to the dress maker, tried on the dress again, packed everything and head back to the train station at 6ish. haha, we had hoped to leave by 4. we had a quick bite to eat at pacific place then parkin and i stopped over at our hotel's stop and dana continued on her way on the mtr. we decided to meet later that evening after freshing up for a night of bar hopping. poor dana. she was soo tired, but a trooper as we got back together for the night's festivities. ben and his friend carl brought us around to different bars around town, i think we hit 3 or 4 in lan kwai fong at central that night. it was a lot of fun. parkin even drank! he was pretty buzzed but at the last bar, the music was blaring and he just sat back and enjoyed it. ben and i, like always after drinking, chatted up a storm. he screamed at me, since the music was so loud, and said that i was his favorite visitor whenever he has visitors in hong kong. *beams* he's a super cool guy and we've gotten along very well in the few years we've known each other. and he knows how to take us out to have a good time whenever i'm out there. ~ |
