| the day had finally arrived... the day we were dreading the most. the day our hong kong trip was to end. it was raining that morning, matching our moods completely. dana called us and woke us up, but we were way too tired from the night prior to get up. we slept another hour then at 9am, parkin got up, shaved his head and showered. i got up soon after, showered, then finished packing. we left the hotel, checked our baggage at the bell hop's desk once again and met dana at the wan chai station. her friend had recommended a store to get glasses so we went. there was still some alcohol in me tho and needed to walk around... by myself, for awhile. while they started the search for glasses, i dropped off my film at a one hour photo store and stopped by a WELCOME grocery store to purchase some juice and water. i met them back at the store and helped dana pick out 2 pairs of glasses. we agreed to meet ben for lunch and since we were close to pacific place off of admirelty, we decided to have dim sum at a nice restaurant at the mall. the food was great. hong kong dim sum could never compare to any places here. ben had to head back home to prepare for a holiday dinner with his collegues, so we said our final goodbye's at the mtr station. from there, parkin, dana, and i head around the city to show dana our favorite stores and areas. we did last minute shopping at giordano, bossini, u2, u-right, baleno, blue star, and g2000. we also took her to ladies market in mong kok so that she knew how to get there the next time she went to hong kong. we rushed by tho because parkin and i had to be back at the hotel by 6 to get on our shuttle to the airport. that was the reason we had gone back to stay at the hotel that last night, for the free shuttle. hehe. i was really sad to leave, and i think that i showed it a lot. i hate leaving vacation spots. dana came with us to marimar, and watched us leave on our shuttle bus. i called my uncle norman and thanked him for taking the time to meet with us. we short messaged a good bye to ben and then parkin fell asleep on the bus. i stayed awake tho, i wanted to take everything in before we left it. our flight wasn't until 10, but we arrived at the airport around 7pm. i refolded and packed all the things that we purchased earlier that day into our already stuffed suitcases, hoping to god that we wouldn't be picked for a security check. luckily we weren't, so we checked in our luggage then walked around the cool hk airport before our flight. we had a quick bite at cafe de coral since we missed dinner, then had another quick bite of mcdonald's. i got a fried red bean pie. when i was in hong kong a couple of years ago, they had fried pineapple pie. no more. but the fried apple pie is the BEST! yummy. i hear kfc has a fried apple pie now. tis true? parkin wanted to do last minute shopping, but we didn't remember the the cool shops were INSIDE the check in area, so we wasted time outside. by the time we went into the gate area, it was 10 minutes before take off. next time we'll remember. |

| although it felt like we did a lot, i think that there was so much more that we could have done in hong kong. i wish that i wasn't sick during the first few days of the trip because i am sure that i was a drag at times. the latter half of the trip tho, not as blurry and of course, i wish that the trip could have been longer. 10 days is never enough. the next time we go, we're going to have an open ticket. haha. my cousin cynthia who has been working in hong kong for the past couple of years was in san francisco the whole time we were in hong kong. luckily we saw her in the city before we left! and she called the night we got home... she was leaving for hk the next day. ha! the plane ride home was good, but again, the plane was full. a big guy was sicking next to parkin. he was downing alcohol all night and was very stinky. i think he ripped a couple during the ride. and when he came back from a long time away at the bathroom, he was so stinky of poo that i suspect he didn't wipe completely. yucky! watched a bunch of movies, slept for a couple of hours, had a couple of meals then we were already landing in sfo. i can't believe how quickly it was all over. we were home. and i only have 189 digital photos and 4 rolls of film to remember the wonderful trip by. |
