last night was crazy with the storming rain!  i left work diligently at 5pm, in case my boss called, he didn't, and started my trek back to san francisco.  now let me tell you, going home at 5pm, crossing the bay bridge on a rainy evening... well it's gonna take a helluva time.  i was on 880 for an hour before i even got on the bridge.  after awhile, i decided to turn off the radio and listen to the drumming of the pelting rain on my car.  it was actually kind of nice, sort of soothing.  it was dark and the lights of the brakes and headlights calmed me because they weren't whizzing by me.  they were moving slowly along with me.  thoughts wandered and i became sedated.

i finally crossed the bridge and was excited.  luckily i was still clenching the steering wheel because suddenly i was hydroplaning.  i lost control of my car for one second and scarily swerved into the right lane.  luckily there was a car smart enough not to tail gate, and when i swerved, he was far enough away.  if he was right next to me, there is no doubt in my mind that i would have side swiped him.  *yikes*  the only bad thing that came of this was that, as the shock of the hydroplaning occurred, my elbow was cranked to an angle suddenly and unexpectedly when i gripped the wheel as it turned... but no biggie.  at least it wasn't my body mangled in a car accident.  thank goodness.

*whew*  i was happy to be at parkin's house with the car parked.  it only took me 2 hours.  i went upstairs and we rested for a bit before heading to san mateo to have dinner with my family at il fornaio.  we were celebrating my brother's birthday which was in november while i was in hk, my birthday, and my dad becoming a US citizen.  yes you heard right.  my father, who has been in the united states for at least 40 years, never went to interview and test to become a citizen.  since he's been here, he's never travelled out of the US in fear of not being able to come back.  why did he take 40 years to take the test, the interviewer and the rest of the family wondered?  his response, "i was procrastinating."  *shaking head*

dinner was yummy and the cool thing about it was that our waiter was an old friend of mine!  i went to school with byron from taylor middle school to mills high.  what a handsome man he's become.

today was a long day.  continued from yesterday, the weather was angry as parkin and i drove to foster city for a friend's son's first birthday celebration.  not only was the rain pouring down, the winds were strong, pushing the rain harder against us.  *ouch!*  when we finally settled indoors, looking out the window, the rain that was coming down wasn't coming straight down.  the wind was so powerful that the rain was falling almost in a 90 degree angle!  it was actually interesting to see.
the party was lots of fun, with lots of tin & jenn's friends and family all round.  their son darren is a lucky boy to be loved so much.  he was adorable at the party, just sitting there playing and absorbing everything and everyone.  i had a great time.

we left the party around 7pm to head back to the city to attend my mom's church's musical at lowell high school.  i try to attend this show every christmas because i enjoy the performances and message.  i also ran into
dan there, and it was neat to meet someone who i'd corresponded with and read about.  i attended the same high school as dan, he was in an older class.  cool guy.

i leave you with a couple pictures of mi familia taken at dinner last night.
hope y'all had a safe and fun saturday!
