parkin and i are confirmed for our honeymoon in figi! i feel sort of bad because our original plan was to go to bali but because of the bombings, we decided against it. my cousin dana suggested it a long time ago as somwhere her and her boyfriend might go one day on their honeymoon. mind you they don't plan to get married any time soon, or later. anyhow, once parkin and i found out that we have timeshare in fiji, the thought of honeymooning there totally appealed to us.
honeymoon planning was parkin's job. he did a great job. last month was when we finally decided that yes, we wanted to go there. when dana found out that it was indeed where we were going, i think she was a bit bummed that we took her idea. i apologized profusely. she finally said that she was ok with it, and had another honeymoon spot in mind for her future that she wasn't going to tell anyone about. haha.
since our timeshare doesn't include airfare, we decided to book with a travel agency for a package deal that included airfare and hotel, then stay longer at our resort. we had enough points (our timeshare works on a point system. they have resorts around the world and depending on season and room, you are charged different amounts of points) for about a week, but borrowed a couple hundred from next year's for a couple more days. we also decided to take a little cruise to the different islands of fiji.
after parkin talked to several travel agents, we decided to book our honeymoon with none other than costco! they had the best rates and packages, and parkin says that his agent was very helpful and nice.
since may is high season for island vacationing, cost was higher than we had thought, but hey, it's our honeymoon. we're gonna splurge.

sounds like a long honeymoon you say? yeah, it is. exactly 3 weeks from leaving sfo to coming back to sfo. we don't plan on going back to fiji anytime so we want to take it all in during this trip. another cousin of mine thinks that parkin and i will get island fever by staying out there for so long, but if you know parkin and i well enough, you'd know that we are the laziest of lazy folk. we love to just sit back and relax on the beach, stopping to eat and rehydrate. i definately want to do some snorkeling and scuba diving tho. the water there... man, it's so clear and clean. maybe i'll catch a little fishie to sneak back into the states! hehe
