Betrayal

my love is a feeling
deep within my soul
constantly burning
to take command
dreaming like it's night all day
no matter the light outside
Blooming like a rose in summer
Dancing like a raging fire
rolling like a smooth rock down a grassy hill
waiting like a wolf for prey
for my love to join me
will he come?
dashing like a cheetah over the top of the hill
moving like a cunning cat
whispering like a bird
the little forest animals scatter like prey
as he comes trotting toward me
spinning away like a wheel
i know i cannot face him
my heart goes out to him
as the four men begin to chase him
i flinch as the gun goes off like an explosion
not just in the cool night
but in my heart
and all is silent like the night when we met here
I betrayed him. And for what?
for gold? for money?
no, i betrayed him for love.
