Our 50th class reunion was held July 4 thru July 8, 2007 at the fabulous Rosen's Shingle Creek Hotel. |

Upon arriving late Wednesday afternoon I picked up my Welcome Package from the Panama Canal Society and my name tag around 6:00 PM. I then went looking for my classmates. I ran into June and Larry about an hour later. If you love to walk then the Rosen was the place to be. During our stay we logged in the miles. Now 230 acres is a huge area to cover and I kid you not it is the largest hotel I have ever enjoyed staying at in the world! |

I have been looking for my lost Football Program of the 1950's for a number of years now. My search is over! I can rest now and by-pass all the flea markets I have been scouring since leaving the old Canal Zone. Danny our creative genius has turned it all into a beautiful keepsake reunion brochure. A million thanks, Danny! Now lets look ahead and see what is cooking! Do we have a deal for you! Yes, a trip home to Panama or what we use to call home. Now to get you in the mood and get those juices flowing and dreaming of Panama I have the following reflection I wrote some time back: The Noon Day Sun in Panama City For all who remember the noon day sun in Panama City I hear the Chiva horns a singing People en La Central Avenue Are swirling all around me The sun is bright My Panabrisa has become one with my back Students pass struggling with their packs Oh Mamma Mia my feet ache The sun feels like lead pellets on my back I bent over double and climb Salsipuedes My shopping bag carries today's lunch Its fresh cut chicken, legumes and corn The bells of Santa Anna are ringing Soon it will be noon Everybody in Panama is on the move From Casa Miller to Bella Vista And all points of the compass Yes amigo, the time has come to get on home It is way too hot to stand around In the noon day sun in Panama City ----- Louis Joseph Barbier |
