Originally, the part of Judy had not been included in the script. The character was written in so Judith Ridley, an attractive intern at the Latent Image, could be added to the cast. Ridley was originally offered the part of Barbara, but turned it down, fearing she was not a strong enough actress to carry a lead.
Originally, the part if Tom was written to be much older. He was supposed to the elderly care-taker of the Even's City cemetery.
In the original draft of the script, Barbara was supposed to survive the night by being dragged into the cellar with Ben. At the end of the film, after Ben was shot dead by the posse, she was to be found in the cellar by Sheriff McClelland |
