"THE ISLAND"
Gossip
WEEK THIRTEEN:

Katie, Judy and Fanny were the last three characters left on The Island. Unlike Dolly, they were stuck in the middle of nowhere while the parade passes by. Katie wanted to be a part of Hillary Clinton and Al Gore’s campaigns. Fanny heard that a singer named Barbra Streisand did a tribute to her at her farewell concert tour. She would have loved to be in the audience sitting next to Mr. Ziegfield… feld… while Barbra sang Fanny’s songs. Judy on the other hand was coping with living on The Island until Good Rose Morgan wrote her a letter.

Rose wrote Judy about The Yankees beating San Francisco for the AL Pennant. Judy wasn’t a baseball fan and couldn’t understand why Rose would think she’d care. She always thought Rose was silly anyway and took her latest taunt with a grain of salt. Salt! That reminded Judy that Rose loved salt on her food. Food and baseball made Judy think about how Rose would pass up a good meal at a top Manhattan restaurant to stay home and watch baseball. Thinking of restaurants made Judy yearn to be free from The Island and able to order room service. Judy became homesick. Maybe Rose wasn’t so silly after all.

The last vote before picking the winner was going to be hard. The three women bonded this past week and each looked up to the other. Katie was in awe of Fanny Brice. Although a very popular one, Katie only had one song to sing over and over again. Fanny had a whole score to choose from! Even Judy had two songs in her repertoire. Katie was intrigued by Judy and her free spirit. Free and easy, that was the “right style” for Hubble and Katie felt she could learn a lot from Judy. She also liked that Judy knew everything about explosives! If only Katie could convince Judy to use her talents for political reasons. All of these qualities AND Judy had long straight hair! No irons!!!  Who could ask for anything more?

Judy admired Katie for actually finishing College… any College! That was something Judy’s father wanted badly.  Katie also knows how to cook and Judy knows how to eat! As for Fanny, she has been around the world. London, Paris, The Delaware Water Gap!!!!! From that experience Fanny knew the pleasure of ordering room service... among other things. Judy and Fanny stayed up to the wee hours in the morning trading room service stories. Isn’t that the height of nonchalance! Another thing Judy liked was that Fanny is also a klutz. Judy remembered her daddy talking about seeing Fanny Brice’s roller-skate rag when he visited New York City.

That evening at the Tribunal Council, a first occurred. It was a tie! There had to be an immunity challenge to break it. There would be a Rat Roast bake off to decide the fate of the last three characters. The best Rat Roast would get immunity for the winner and the other two could not vote that person off. The winner of the challenge would cast the vote to banish the last survivor off The Island.

The bake off began. Katie was the only domestic character left and was expected to walk away with the immunity prize easily. Fanny, not knowing how to turn on the oven, decided to prepare Rat Tartar and hope for the best.  Unfortunately for everyone Judy figured out how to turn the oven on. She not only burned her Rat Roast but the kitchen caught fire as well. The crew frantically fought to put out the flames but before they did Katie’s rat was set a blaze and ruined. Even the Tapioca Pie she bought with all her ration stamps was lost in the fire! Due to the circumstances Fanny’s raw Rat Tartar won the challenge and she received immunity.

Although Fanny was fond of Judy she felt she would fair better against the opinionated Katie in the last vote. Besides, Fanny feared for her safety alone on The Island with Judy. What was next, a tidal wave? The place would be more peaceful with Katie and even if she didn’t win Fanny wanted to leave in one piece! Fanny’s fans hoped that when the last week was over she wouldn’t have to say, “I shoulda given any piece of myself than settling for Katie’s peace.” <g>

As for Judy, she failed at Survivor U. Once again she boarded a plane and was off to another institution of higher learning. Judy never learned how to drive without ending up in a body of water so she headed to the Knockout Driving Academy in Long Beach, CA. There’s an instructor with whom she hoped to be studying with, a good looking man, Kid Natural. No - NATURAL as in Robert Redford and Glenn Close in the…

Ya never heard of him? Ya know, the nut with the gloves????
