Okay, so you've decided that this is the resort for you.  But how do you get there?  The easiest option is to take the 25 minute flight with Sansa Airlines from San Jose airport to Tambor airport which is located just a 2 minute drive from the resort.  The cost of the flight is $60 one way, with a 25% discount for children.. You can check flight times and make reservations online at www.flysansa.com.  Sansa Airlines uses 5 to 14 passenger planes. It is a very scenic but rather bumpy flight.  We thoroughly enjoyed it. The other option is to take the bus and ferry from San Jose to Tambor via Puntarenas.  It departs in the morning (usually requiring you to spend the night in San Jose first) and takes 4-5 hours.  From San Jose to Puntarenas is 2 hours.  The actual ferry ride to Paquera is about 1 1/2 hours.  Then another 40 minutes from Paquera to the Barcelo Playa Tambor.  The cost is $25 one way if pre-purchased through hotelbeds.com We took the flight to Tambor, then to get back to San Jose we took the bus and ferry which allowed us to see a little bit more of the beautiful countryside.
