Join us for a special event in honor of the poetry and poetic thought of San Francisco poet JACK SPICER (1925-1965.) Jack Spicer's unique and influential theory of poetic dictation is developed in his poetry and also his series of lectures, collected in The House That Jack Built: The Selected Lectures of Jack Spicer, edited by Peter Gizzi. Spicer used Jean Cocteau's 1949 film Orphee as a model for his notion of a poetics of the outside. We'll be reading Spicer poetry, watching the film, and then talking about this poet's vision and work. This event is graciously hosted by THE POETRY CENTER, located at SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY, in the HUMANITIES BUILDING, room 511. November 7th 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. FREE ADMISSION for info, e-mail vigilo@hotmail.com |
