Lynyrd Skynyrd

What can I say??  The South will rise again.  Especially with the help of Southern boys like Lynyrd Skynyrd!!  These were the greatest guys in concert, they've taken Rickey Medlocke from BLACKFOOT and adapted the band to hold such original members as Gary Rossington,  and Billy Powell (who is one of the most talented pianists ever!!). So not to disturb the legacy of the band, Ronnie's brother has taken the task of singing (and may I add, he's just like his big brother).  Just never forget the members who've passed (who started the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd).  God Bless you, Ronnie, Cassie, Steve, Allen, and-most recently-Leon Wilkeson.  You all are greatly missed.

Blackfoot is definately one of the greatest Southern Rock bands to ever around, and rarely heard.  I mean, they had the most awesome hard hitting licks on guitar, and those harmonics by Shorty Medlocke (Rickey's Grandpa) are just absolutely amazing!!  I am especially amazed at how well Rickey is in concert!!  I was fortunately enough to catch him with Lynyrd Skynyrd in Atlanta.  Blackfoot just houses the greatest talents!!  Everyone should run out and buy some good ol' Blackfoot albums!  Highway Song is one of our Southern Anthems!  Blackfoot lives!!

The Charlie Daniels Band is truly one of the most enduring bands of Southern Rock!!  They have a lasting brotherhood in Southern Rock that goes back to the first days of Lynyrd Skynyrd!!  Mr. Daniels is truly a very talented man--passionate in his work, his Country, and his religion.  I have to quote my fiance:   apon my saying "he's wearing a ten-gallon hat!", he replied, "Well, he's a ten-gallon man!" ...And he truly is!  Still coming though my hometown at least once a year on tour!!  What a man!

Can you all say "Excellent, classic, Southern Rock and Roll????"  I mean, come on!!  You can't get much better than the Marshall Tucker Band!!  They are just so great!!  I mean, I can't come up with enough excellent words to describe this band!  Everything I've come to know and love about Southern Rock appears in this band... it's just pure excellence!! Unfortunately, like so many great Southern acts, this band has a devastating history... 3 very talented brothers... all passed on, and two in the same month!  It's tragic how the talented die young.

Molly Hatchet is just so phenomenal!! I just love this band!!  I tried to go see them in concert a few weeks ago, but they wouldn't let me in the car 'cause I was  only sixteen and you have to be 21 to go in... so I did the next best thing and I sat outside the bar and listened!!  They were phenomenal!!  Of course, I did my share of begging the bouncer to sneak me in, and did my share of whining, but hey.. I heard what they were playing.. and it was a killer set!!  Wish I coulda been inside!

.38 Special

.38 Special has ALWAYS been a favorite around this household, and a personal favorite as well!!  As a matter of fact, they just finished a .38 Special song on the radio here as I was trying to type this up!!  I just love this band!! Donnie, Don, and the boys are just some of the greatest rockers you'll find anywhere!!  Donnie helps carry the great tradition of VanZant musicians.... truly one of the greatest sets of brothers in Rock and Roll!!  I was fortunate enough to see this band in concert once, but unfortunately I was 7!!  But, that just goes to show you something... I've been a fan my ENTIRE life!!  I just love these guys!!
