Trey Visits Little Cayman & Southern Cross Club - Dec. 2006
Nothing like departing St. Louis after spending two days in an airport hotel until an ice storm winds down & we can leave...  Finally, the blue waters of the Caribbean to make up for the ice & snow!

Above is the western end of Little Cayman & Owen Island.  The airport isn't fancy, just a small wooden building housing the one room terminal, the one truck fire department & the post office.  Yes, the tarmack is sand & to get there, the planes cross the "main" road.  The plane in the photo, that's the biggest they get into Little Cayman during the day.  No flights at night, since there's no runway lights.
This was Trey's dock, his "sandbox" & our cottage for the trip.  By the end of 10 days, all the sand in the yard was churned up several times by Trey & turned into castles, roads & anything else that he could form from an endless supply of sand.
One afternoon we managed to pull him away from the "sandbox" & took a walk down the busy roads of Little Cayman to the firehouse.  They may only have one truck, but it has to handle house fires, brush fires & a possible plane crash, so it is BIG!
His days were filled with snorkeling, the "sandbox", iguana feeding & a trip to the firehouse.  As you can see, this is a VERY laidback island with very few people & fewer cars.
