Battle Schools: Why It Can Be Successful and Why It Can Suck.
Those who dwell in LTU know atleast about some of the Battle Schools that
took place, past and present. In fact, most of them could probably they
said've participated in one and learned a thing or two about how to duel.
But, as we may or may not know, many of the battle schools never seem to
last very long. Perhaps because it was out of boredom. Maybe it was out of
laziness. Though the fad was huge in the past, today battle schools don't
seem too very common, and they die pretty easily.

According to LTU records, the first ever battle school was created by
ragnorok69. It took place in the LTU board itself about a year and a half
ago, and it was quite original at the time. "There was a large influx of new
people at the time who were making alot of topics about learning how to
fight, or asking questions," says raggy himself. "Seemed like a good idea, a
wonder no one thought of it before." Being only called The Battle School,
many of the old veterans learned pretty well how to fight RP style. They
learned the art of True, Cheeze, and Mix. Some favored one style, while
others fought in several. But it can be easily said that this Battle School
started something on LTU that had probably changed the board forever.
However, the battle school wasn't perfect. "Different teachers had different
ideas about what to do and what not to do," he continues. "At first the
rules of teaching were a bit strict, and there were not enough teachers to
teach all the people who signed up."

Like all other things, the battle school had to come to an end. However
legendary (or not) may it sound, there was no longer any time for ragnorok
and the others to teach the students. "Lack of time of me and the other
teachers," he says.

With the fall of The Battle School, others popped up. Most of the masters
of these schools were also pupils at ragnorok's school, and so they would
pass on what they learned to new people.  The few that popped out included
The LTU Battle School, claimed by chickengobawk, The Elbonian Wakeen, by
Elbonian Man, Zelrais Academy, by Lord Wiergraf, and The LZA Battle School,
by Vegetaman.

There were many others, the majority of them failing faster then they came
up. But what was interesting was why they had failed. "I got to lazy to
update it," says cgb. "Should've kept reminding people to come," replies
Weir, who feels it was his fault his school failed. "...people stopped
coming, and I got bored with it." So one of the main reasons is that people
either never had the time, or were quite too lazy to continue such a
commitment.

The same case goes for Vegetaman, who currently owns the LZA Battle School,
still active today. However, the school itself, formerly known as
Vegetaman's Battle School, closed once beforehand, and this was also due to
the lack of time. But, with LZA claiming to be quite active, Vegetaman
opened the doors to his school once again, where its fellow members are
being trained even today. "Well, it's progressing fairly well," says the LZA
leader.

It doesn't seem to likely that more Battle Schools would be created. With
the start of school coming this fall, more and more people would become
busier as the days go by. But if you DO have plans of creating a school,
here is some advice given to those who had experiences with it:

"Personally I like battle schools where the master duels the student." -
Vegetaman

"I dont think there should be faction based Battle schools. O i learned that
even the lamest fighters can be kinda good if they get some training." -
chickengobawk

"Dont be too strict, if the peson wants to learn how to cheese, let them.
Have teachers who teach a variety of styles. Cheese and rp, they are equal,
and one should not be dumped upon. Also, dont have to few teachers, its hard
I know to have all of them good teachers, but to few teachres and you will
fall behind." - ragnorok69

"Battle schools can be good, but only if the person knows what they're
doing." - Lord Wiergraf

"Resistance own j00 all, and the skuadies will die soon." - Elbonian Man
