The Resistance Wargames - The "Neo-LZA"
June, 2002. The beginning of the summer season, a season that is usually more active since school is out. The three main factions were Resistance, the LZA, and Sin. The Resistance/Sin wars had died off a month or so ago, and a Resistance/LZA scuffle had just been completed, with lackluster results. The dreaded stagnant air had settled over LTU, and it was only a matter of time before the cry for change would be heard.

Whitesburg, a Resistance member, decided to try to do something to liven up LTU. He basically kicked out the current Horseman of the Resistance, and decided to have contests to determine the new horseman. Basically, it would restore the respect of the position, as it had been pretty much whored out, given to members who weren't even in the Resistance at the time.

The first contest was Wargames, the contest to determine the War Horseman. The first round consisted of five questions that all applicants had to answer. Whitesburg then graded them, and the top four would move on to the second round. The top four were ViperMJS7, Grig, Mike8787, and RoodRiot, who scored a 95%, 90%, 80%, and 75%, respectively.

The next round of the contest was as follows: The four finalists drafted all the Resistance members, and some mercenaries, to form teams. The teams would battle, and the two winning teams would move onto face each other. The winning team's captain, AKA one of the finalists, would become the new War Horseman. The draft got done, and the LZA attacked during their, delaying the process somewhat. But it would be another event that would stop the Wargames from ever completing..

It all started with an article that thebrain31, a Resistance member, wrote on BMN. He basically called for reform of the Resistance, and even said that the Resistance should be abolished. It was widely praised, as everyone agreed we needed reform. But reform has been called for many times on the board, and most of the time no action follows it. That wouldn't be the case this time.

There were soon talks about forming a new faction. Although it mostly involved Resistance members, there were also a few members of Sin and LZA in it. At the beginning, it was a mere seven members or so. These seven members did most of the planning for the faction. Slowly, new members began to trickle in to the idea, even though the new faction wasn't announced publicly yet. Some members joined up, only to then back out at the last moment. The faction layout was devised by Whitesburg, and spots were being filled. Whitesburg, Mike8787, and dark33 were elected to be the three Co-Leaders of Evolution, and all was ready. Whitesburg made a topic, declaring the formation of Evolution. Their purpose? Bringing fun to the board. All the members posted in the topic, some giving reasons why they were joining this faction, and leaving their current one. As expected, the leaders and members of the three current factions were quick to denounce Evolution. The arguement heard the most was "Oh, how's starting a new faction going to solve the problems"?

But, Evolution didn't die right out of the gates as predicted. After determining the War Department head, the head of the Faction Department, Talain, made the Evolution roster. It had 15+ people on it, and some "big names" from the other factions.

The Resistance was hit hardest by Evolution's formation, as they lost a chunk of their roster, and a lot of "big-names" They also lost control of the government, as the two presidents joined Evolution. LZA lost their second-in-command, and Sin lost one of their brightest "prospects" in WingedFire.

Chickengobawk, the leader of the Resistance in Cloud701 and Mupod Negnirt's absence, called out to the LZA and Sin to invoke an "ignore policy" on Evolution. It basically called for the Resistance, LZA, and Sin to totally ignore any and all Evolution activities. If a faction isn't recognized, it can't survive, right? Well, in theory, but the ignore policy didn't work as well as planned. Pretty much nobody ignored Evolution, which killed CGB's plan.

It was pretty quiet for a while.. until thebrain31, now an Evolution member and well-known espionage expert, devised a plan to take down Vegetaman, the leader of the LZA. Basically, he convinced Pulse, Xtra, and Zelda2000, the Second-in-Command, the leader of the Fighters of Virtue, and the leader of the Specialists, respectively, to all rebel against Vegetaman and try to take control of the LZA.

Although it has now come to be known as the self-proclaimed "Worst. Plan. Evar.", it actually wasn't that bad. Everything was in place, and with some skillful negotiation, thebrain31 got the Resistance to help out. The plan began with the Resistance declaring war on the LZA, to distract Vegetaman. The war lasted for a few days, with both forces going at it. The second strike when out of the blue, Evolution declared war on the LZA also. Vegetaman was now forced to split what little forces he had to try and hold off the two armies. Evolution came out of the gate in its first war with swords ablazin', and put up a fantastic effort. The LZA pretty much didn't show up, save Vegetaman, who was, at one point, fighting off at least seven opponents. It was looking bad for the LZA.. and it was about to get even worse.

thebrain31 set his final phase into motion, and Pulse, Xtra, and Zelda2000 declared that they were rebelling against Vegetaman, and sent out a call for the rest of the LZA to follow their leads. Evolution and the Resistance were quick to recognize this Neo-LZA as the official LZA, all apart of thebrain's plan.

The problem was, the rest of the LZA didn't follow suit. In a show of loyalty, the rest of the LZA refused to rebel, and they stuck by their leader, Vegetaman. Pulse and Co. were hung out to dry, with no LZA support. The three then proceeded to show their true colors. It seems that Zelda2000 decided to inform Vegetaman of the situation right before it happened, so Vegetaman knew. Pulse later claimed that it was a plan against thebrain31 the whole time, although this was a huge lie in this author's opinion. Xtra ran back to Vegetaman with his tail between his legs, and pretty much said he wasn't serious about the rebellion.

Now, the real kicker comes with this: Vegetaman gave two of the three rebellers their leadership positions back. thebrain31, his plan "foiled", told everyone he was leaving LTU. He closed his account, but Limit Break later reopened it to have as an alternate. He also blocked most of LTU on AIM and MSN, save a few people. It seemed like one of the great espionage masters of LTU was gone for good.. or was he?

Just a week or so later, thebrain31 came back to LTU. The LZA leadership situation remains relatively unchanged. What happens next is yet to be determined.
