Ever since his early childhood Wilson Ramos has been passionate about singing and music. It was not until later in life at the Bay Ridge Christian Center, that Wilson first had the opportunity to sing publicly, with the Bay Ridge Christian Center Choir. It is here where Wilson now faithfully serves the Lord Jesus Christ in the BRCC Worship team, the BRCC Choir, the Usher's Ministry, the Men's Ministry as well as with the BRCC Evangelism Ministry.
Wilson was chosen along with several other members of the BRCC choir to sing back up vocals in concert, for Christian Recording Artists, and Worship Leader, Pastor Ron Kenoly. It was not long after this that Wilson understood in his heart that he was called by the Lord to be a Worshipper of God. But Wilson went through the inner struggle that every singer goes through at one point or another in their walk with the Lord. The inner battle was between the lure to sing secular music and a yearning to sing solely for the Lord. Wilson crossed paths with the band leader of the New York based Salsa group called the "Neuyorican Salsa Boys" and was invited to join them. As one of the lead singers of this orchestra Wilson went on to play many venues through out the Tri-State area and Up-State New York.
A year later Wilson began his solo career in music and formed his own Entertainment Company called "Latino Groove Entertainment © " Wilson went on to produce and star in an off-Broadway Type Cabaret Show called " The Latin Cabaret Show ©” with choreographer Michael Park. This show incorporated the best of Contemporary Salsa music with Mambo Choreography in addition to Romantic ballads. The Latin Cabaret Show was performed at many well know venues in and out of New York City. These are just some among the multitude were Wilson performed The Latin Cabaret Show.
“Les Polles”, “Jimmy’s Bronx Café”,“Sweet Caroline”, “200 Fifth”, “Café Wha”, "The Puerto Rican Day Parade", "The Puerto Rican Festival in Frank Sinatra Park Hoboken, NJ", “The Fordham Road Festival”, “The South Street Sea Port”, "Lincoln Center Square”, "The Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center", and lastly in Rose Records 10th Annual Independent Record Label Fest and TCB (The City Beat Magazine) Award Ceremony at the Legendary "Apollo Theater". Wilson won The City Beat Magazine TCB Award for Best Male Vocalist of 2003.
In the natural it seemed as if everything was going great for Wilson. He was working with talented music producers and was asked to sign a record deal with a subsidiary record label from Sony Records. Outwardly it was looking as if Wilson's dream was coming true. But the Holy Spirit began to remind Wilson of his calling from God to be a Worshipper of the Lord. He keep hearing in his mind the words of his dear Pastor Luciano Padilla Jr who said to him right before he left the church.
"EVERY DAY THAT YOU SPEND IN THAT ENVIROMENT IS ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE".
How true these words from this Man of God would prove to be. Wilson began to realize that he was gaining the world but was losing his soul because of his compromise (MARK 8:36). The compromise was subtle and did not happen all at once. The decision to sing in a nightclub and not to drink alcohol begain to change from one drink and then two, by the time he came to his senses he was drinking almost everyday. When Wilson was at his lowest point he became conscious of how backslidden his heart had truly become and finally saw how much of his personal relationship with God had been put on hold so that he could pursue his dream of becoming a professional singer.
He finally grasped the reality that his music career had become to him a god. He now knew that he needed to return to the Lord. He once again began seeking the Lord in prayer and through the Bible. At the end of 2003 he returned to his home church the Bay Ridge Christian Center. Here the Holy Spirit quickly brought conviction upon his heart regarding the choices he had made and the direction in which his life was headed. But it was not until he attended a powerful Warriors of The Way Men's Ministry Retreat that he was broken before the presence of the Lord and came to the place of repentance. At this retreat he chose to break all ties with the world and like a prodigal son came home and was restored by God.
Wilson surrendered his will and all of his dreams and desires to fully embraced the call of God to be a music minister of the Lord Jesus Christ. He now serves the Kingdom of God as a bond servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wilson made a vow before God at that retreat in 2003 that he would only use his talent and spiritual gifts to bring glory to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He took a difficult step of faith and abandoned his secular music career and wholeheartedly returned to his Christian roots. After a year long hiatus from music, Wilson knew he was now spiritually where he needed to be to give back to and serve the body of Christ.
Wilson took this time to seek the heart of God for direction and saturated himself in the word of God and prayer. In the secret place of prayer, the Holy Spirit has been faithful and has inspired Wilson with a New Song. He has written to date seven original Worship Songs and now waits on God fully trusting the Lord to bring the vision of the Barnabas Heart Worship Ministry into a reality. Wilson has recieved prophetic confirmation from the Lord through anointed men of God regarding this vision. God has said He will provide the finances for this ministry. We have just finished our first demo CD by the grace of God.
