This page is dedicated to the men of PLATOON 264,  with whom I spent my Boot Camp days at Parris Island in the spring of 1966.  Is your name or the name of someone you know among them?  If so, please email me so I can update my records. The name sand photos were taken form the album I received after graduating from Boot Camp.

Do you remember our D. I. coming outside where we were cleaning our rifles and he was tossing a mass of combination locks up in the air?  First, you had to remember, "Did I lock my locker?"  Then if you were sure you had not locked it, you had to be prepared to scramble along with 10 or 15 other recruits from your barracks who were all going to be trying to, first, find, and then, spin the combination to get their lock off of the tangle.  This was virtually impossible with that many men trying to do it all at the same time.

...and who was the one the D. I. called the Jewish Leprechaun? Remember the day he came out for formation with his adjustable aluminum cover block still inserted? His cover had not dried and he had to be covered, so he put it on as it was.
