Fair friend a beast there walks around In dark shadows at night A beast who stalks without a sound With claws and teeth to bite The owlsome one who walks alone Between the trees be warned The beast with padding paws on stone And gaping jaws has yawned Amongst the bat and fleeing rat Shadows will swirl and loom To flee, to hide, to beat the cat Will sure spell ones own doom The monsters pounce will not be seen Until its jaws are clamped Your blood will flow upon the green Where useless feet have stamped Fair beast you prowl and hunt to eat As God has taught you so This panther was released to greet These hills where it does grow |
