Star Fleet Battle Manual was a game published by Gamescience in 1977, with a second edition in 1982. It is a space ship combat game, based on Star Trek (original series). After reminiscing about games I played in the 1980s, I did a google search for Star Fleet Battle Manual and only a small number of hits appeared. Of these hits, most were just generic lists of games by company. So, I undertook to create this site for any players to have a resource and to honor a great game. |

About Battle Manual |
One of the many factors that make Battle Manual different is that the game is played on the floor, with models or silhouette cards. It is essentially played "to scale", in that weapons can only be fired so far (3 feet for torpedoes and 5 feet for phasers), and movement is based on a math formula and plotted with a ruler. Each ship produces energy from its engines, and this energy is allocated to the ships systems per your strategy. Generally, these systems involve defense (shields) offense (weapons) and movement. Game play is fast and fun, and is well suited to groups of players and fleet action. |
