                                                CENSORSHIP MEMORANDUM #3

1. In accordance with current directives, the following events in which the ship took part are released for personnel correspondence:
      (a) All operations against the enemy up to and including 13 June 1945.
      (b) The air strike against TOKYO on 10 July 1945 as released in CINCPAC communiqué #419. This permits mention of the fact we were with the carriers attacking TOKYO.

2. The following places are released for personal correspondence:
      (a) Bremerton, Washington
      (b) Honolulu, Hawaii
      (c) Eniwetok
      (d) Saipan
      (e) Ulithi

3. Other actions and other places are NOT listed and are NOT RELEASED.

4. Censorship instructions restrict discussion to personal experiences and do not permit discussion of results of ships or forces present.

5. Censorship regulations prohibit the following subjects, either openly or by hidden reference:
      (a) Location of ships and forces.
      (b) Descriptions of ships and their equipment.
      (c) Weather and its effects.
      (d) Routine of the ship or force.
      (e) Effect of enemy operations on our forces.
      (f) Criticism of personnel or material.
      (g) Anything that might give aid or comfort to the enemy.

6. Japanese currency to the value of Twenty (20) Yen may be retained as a personal souvenir by any one man. (Authority PacFlt Notice 28N-44).

7. Souvenirs purchased locally will be retained on board until the place of purchase is released for discussion.
