Duty Watch II Working Division - Third
Port Routine
General - Uniform of the Day: CLEAN dungarees with blue hats.
- Group IV air bedding, weather permitting.
- General Field Day.
0545 - Reveille.
0600 - Turn to, clean ship. Wash down weather decks.
0715 - Send baseball team to recreation landing.
- Send 12 men, two each
1,2,3,4,5,6 divisions to stores landing with lunch and canteens.
Report to Ensign
ASWELL. Pick them up at 1600.
- Send 10 men, 2 each from
1,2,3,4,5 divisions to recreation field with lunch and canteens.
Report to Chief
Westcott. Pick them up at 1700.
- Send 6 men, one each 1,2,3,4,5,6
divisions to recreation landing with lunch and
canteens. Report
to CSK FISHER. Pick them up at 1600.
- Send 20 man working party
plus checkers to load stores, CBM, R division in charge.
8 men
from Engineers, 4 men each from I, FA and FM divisions. Send lunch and
water
with party, which will return on the lighter about 1400.
0700 - Have port side clear for RAINTER to come along side.
0730 - Secure from condition Yoke, set condition X-ray.
0745 - Send one R division petty officer to report to Ensign CLARKSON
at Fire Fighting
School(Officers'
Club landing) . Pick him up 1630 boat.
0750 - Recreation party of 100 men leaves ship for recreation center,
Ensign PATCH in charge.
Men carry own
drinking water and swimming trunks. Send beer from ship.

0800 - Quarters for Engineers, R, EX divisions. Physical drill.
0830 - Quarters for muster. Physical drill.
Send mail
orderly to fleet landing, boat to wait for him.
0900 - Utility boat to other ships in harbor.
1000 - Send CPO party to Colorado Beach. Use MWB. Send ice.
1115 - Send boats for morning recreation party and baseball team.
1230 - Liberty party leaves ship. Issue beer chits. Send patrol and
mail orderly in first boat.
1245 - Guard mail trip to SOPA (Senior Office Present Afloat).
1315 - Recreation party of 100 men leave ship for Coconut Grove. Ensign
JOHNSON in
charge.
Men carry own drinking water and swimming trunks. Send beer from ship.
1415 - Boxing squad lay aft to starboard side of turret III for workout.
1500 - Boat trip to officers' landing. Send two steward's mates and
one man.
1600 - Send first boat to pick up liberty party. Shuttle boats until
party and shore patrol are on
board.
1630 - (About) Boat trip to officers' landing. Send boat to pick up
recreation party at Coconut
Grove.
1645 - Send MWB to Colorado Beach for CPOs.
1750 - First mess in wardroom.
1810 - Officers' boat leaves dock. Steward's mates and one man return.
One quarter hour before sunset - Set condition Yoke. Prepare to darken ship.
Sunset - Darken ship.
1830 - Second mess in wardroom.
1015 - Movies on deck, weather permitting.
NOTE #1. Lt Comdr. SUMMERS has relieved Comdr.
STRITE (Detached) as First Lieutenant and
Damage Control Officer. Lt. SLADE has relieved Lt Comdr. SUMMERS as Ass't
Damage Control Officer. Lt. SLADE will continue as Ship's Control Officer.

BOGAR has relieved Lt. SLADE as EX division Officer. Ship's Clerk ENABNIT
has
relieved Lt. SLADE as Personnel Officer and Aide to the Executive Officer.
NOTE #2. During the day it is anticipated that
a lighter will come alongside with sugar and flour to
be unloaded.
NOTE #3. Men not having a full $10,000 worth
of Government Insurance and who have been in the
service over 120 days may now be insured for the full amount without fulfilling
the
requirement of a physical examination. Full details are to be found in
A1Nav 182.
