Kenshin is heading toward Kyoto to kill Shishio, when he hears a girl trying to sell her body to a couple of guys. She is wearing a hood so that they do not see that she is just a kid. She takes there money and then beats them to pulp. Kenshin pops out of the bushes and tells her to give them back there money. Misao does not want to and tries to defeat him. But Kenshin is such a good fighter that Misao is unable to hurt him. Kenshin soon finds out that Misao needs that money to get home and Misao finds out that Kenshin knows the Oniwabanshu. She then tags along with Kenshin and discovers how good Kenshin really is. And constantly asks him to tell her about what has happened to them, but Kenshin does not want to tell her that they are all deceased except for Aoshi.

When he reaches Kyoto, he stays with Misao and Okina for a little while. Then he gets a new sword, and finds his master, Hiko Seijirou. When he finds him, Kenshin leaves, not wanting to involve others in his problems. But Misao chases after him, not wanting to be left out. This is when she bumps into Yahiko and Kaoru. Kaoru and Yahiko are chasing after Aoshi, while Misao goes after Kenshin. Misao yells out "Kenshin that moron" and Kaoru looks at her full of hope. And so they find out from Okina where Kenshin has gone. Misao shows them there, just in time to here Hiko calling Kenshin a "baka desshi". They kick down the door and tell Hiko all the good that Kenshin has done since he left Master Hiko.

Misao uses the weapons Tobikunai and the Kenpou.
