RI to lodge complaint against Vanuatu if OPM opens office
JAKARTA (JP): The government warned on Monday that it would lodgea protest
against Vanuatu if the archipelago allowed the Free Papua Organization (OPM) to
open a representative office in its territory.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
said he had yet to confirm rumors that the separatist group had set up a
representative office in Vanuatu.
"Once we confirm the rumor, we will lodge a protest against Vanuatu," he was quoted
by Antara as saying.
Susilo said that the OPM is a separatist group, and therefore, could not open a
representative office abroad. Other countries do not have the right to give the group
space, he said.
