» PROLOGUE: ISN'T THAT COOL? «
May 2011...
The large, elegant, ivory colored, two-story, six bedroom mansion was
quiet this Sunday morning at 5:29am. Five souls slept
peacefully, undisturbed by the lightning and thunder outside. A small
black alarm clock with bright red numbers sat on a
mahogany triangle night stand in one of the occupied rooms. The red
numbers changed to 5:30 and the little clock let out a
loud, obnoxious, rhythmical scream. A small hand shot out of the black
comforter in a matching mahogany bed. It fumbled
around on the night stand before reaching its target and smacking the
clock to silence. One crystal blue eye slowly opened to
look at the clock, the other followed suit. The figure yawned and crawled
out of the bed, placing two small feet, with blue
toenails, on the carpet. She slowly walked to a mahogany vanity and
turned on a thin black lamp, looking into the mirror.
Megan Postell gasped at the sight staring back at her, her usually
kept curly light brown hair was sticking out in every
direction and she has a bright red line down the side of her face,
probably from a crease on her pillowcase. She ran a brush
through her hair then put it into a ponytail.
She turned around and walked a little ways to a large mahogany dresser,
covered in pictures of Megan with her friends,
family, and her boyfriend. She opened up a drawer and took out a pair
of black jeans, a light-blue tank top with two white
stripes across the chest, and some socks. She changed and looked at
the bed that her boyfriend was still sleeping in and then
left the room. She walked down the long narrow hall and turned onto
the spiral staircase that brought her down into a large
living room. Megan looked around and cleaned up a little bit before
walking through the entertainment room and dining room
into the kitchen. She took some orange juice out of the refrigerator
and a navy blue cup out of the chestnut cabinets. She
walked around putting some hidden dishes into the dishwasher and cleaned
up the kitchen. Megan walked back into the
entertainment room and made herself comfortable in the snuggle chair,
turning on the large black TV to check on the local
news. She was about to turn it off when she heard her best friend's
name. Megan leaned forward and listened in shock of the
huge fight her best friend Erin and Erin's fiance Chris Ackland had
the night before at a business dinner party. Megan watched
some footage of Erin running into a limo with Chris hot on her tail
trying to talk to her, Erin looked to be ignoring every word.
Megan shook her head and reached for the phone so she could call Erin
in Fort Worth, Texas and see how she was, she
leaned back and turned off the TV as a guard answered the phone.
Erin White looked at herself in the mirror and tried to cover up the
large black and blue bruise on her cheek, she could easily
cover up the other ones with clothes, someone knocked on the door of
the bathroom and she hoped it wasn't Chris.
She slowly opened the door and came face to face with one of her bodyguards',
Brad, "Sorry to interrupt, but there's a lady on
the phone saying she's your best friend. She said to tell you her name
is Blue."
Erin smiled at Brad and reached for the phone, Brad left. "Megan?" Erin
asked into the phone, she smiled when Megan
answered.
"You saw huh? Oh... nothing. Just a small argument, I swear it really
was nothing." Erin said into the phone, smiling slightly
at Megan's sympathy.
"Megan? Do you remember when you said you had an extra room at your house... could I?"
Erin smiled brightly and talked to Megan for an hour before hanging up to go find Chris and start packing.
Mary Snite pulled her shoulder length brown hair into a bun and wiped
the sleep from her sweet hazel eyes, yawning as she
stepped down the spiral staircase into the living room. She situated
herself into a burgundy recliner, she looked around the
room and wondered where Megan was. Mary heard someone softly singing
along to the Bush song on the radio in the kitchen
and knew it was Megan. She giggled when she stopped in the door way
of the kitchen to see Megan dancing around the
kitchen dusting and washing off stuff. Megan had heard Mary and stopped
and looked up at her friend, "Good Morning!",
Megan said enthusiastically.
Mary raised an eyebrow at Megan's behavior and eyed Megan carefully, "Ok, what's going on?", Mary asked.
Megan smiled brightly, then said normally, "Oh, Erin's just coming to stay for a few months."
It took Mary a few seconds to register what Megan had said, but when
it did she screamed and jumped into Megan's arms,
both girls giggling and jumping up and down with pleasure. Howie Dorough,
who had been on his way down the stairs, ran
into the kitchen hearing Mary's loud piercing scream, "What's wrong?!?!"
Howie stopped and crossed his arms, leaning against the wall watching
in amusement as his girlfriend and her best friend
bounced around the kitchen giggling. They stopped and Mary ran to her
boyfriend, who's long curly brown hair was in
disarray and his sexy brown eyes still looked sleepy. "Howie! Erin's
coming to stay for a few months, ohmigosh I haven't
seen her in like two years since she moved to Fort Worth with Chris.
This is so cool, we are all finally gonna be together
again . . . the three musketeers, the sisters, Blue, Juliet, and E.
Isn't that cool baby?", Mary asked quickly, her eyes sparkling
with excitement and her smile brightening with every word.
Howie, who had meet Erin once before when Mary 'just had to introduce
them', was happy that the girl Mary usually talked to
15 times a week was coming to stay awhile.
The last time they had seen Erin was two years before when Erin was
moving to Fort Worth with her boyfriend Chris
Ackland. Mary and Megan had introduced Erin to everyone and especially
to Nick Carter, the guy Erin was just 'dying' to
meet. They didn't know what happened between Nick and Erin, but all
they knew was that they both wouldn't talk to each
other for days and soon Erin announced that she was leaving with her
new boyfriend. Erin and Nick had become good friends
and soon everyone had expected that they had a secret relationship
they didn't want to tell anyone about just yet, but as soon
as it started to look like they were gonna tell everyone they started
ignoring each other and couldn't look each other in the eye.
Three days later Erin had come home and told everyone that she had
met someone and she was moving to Fort Worth, Texas
with him, one year later she called Mary and told her that she was
engaged. Mary had gone to visit Erin once during the
2-year period and had noticed small bruises on Erin's face and arms,
she had confronted Erin about it, but the response she
got was, "It's nothing Mary . . . let's please not talk about this
again. Ok, please?".
Right then Mary suspected that Chris was physical and tried everything
she could to get Erin out of the relationship, but Erin
seemed to afraid to.
Megan smiled as she got the eggs out of the refrigerator and started
to make omelets for breakfast, she wondered what Nick
would think of Erin staying there for a while and she wondered what
Erin would think of Nick, who had been living there
since she left. Mary rolled the dough to make biscuits and glowed as
she thought of Erin arriving in less then six hours.
Howie, on the other hand, was worried of what would happen between
Erin and Nick when they saw each other for the first
time in two years since their extremely personal, secret, and distant
relationship after that, he just hoped that things would
work out and nobody would get hurt.
