» CHAPTER FOUR «
They hung up the jackets then went into the living room and started watching Carrie 2.
Arielle laid her head on Justin's shoulder. "This is such a dumb movie."
"I know." Ali said. "The ending sucks."
Kevin threw a pillow at Ali.
"Shut the hell up!" he looked back at the TV. "Great I just missed something."
Brian shook his head. "Kev you haven't seen this movie?"
"No I haven't." He said putting his arm around Rachel. "Now if everyone would just be quiet."
"What a grouchy old man." Hope said.
Kevin glared at her.
Hope stuck her tongue out at him.
"Let's just watch the movie." AJ said.
They all quieted down and watched the movie. Half way through the movie Tricia got up and announced she was going to the bathroom.
"Thanks for informing us." Brooke said as Tricia left the room.
"You're welcome." She called back.
A few minutes after Tricia left, the room along with the rest of the house went dark. The girls along with a few of the guys screamed.
"What happened?" Joey asked as his eyes adjusted to the sudden darkness.
Monica looked out the window behind the couch. "It can't be a black out cause the street lights outside are still on."
"Brian! Someone!" Tricia yelled from the other room. "I can't...ouch!"
"Tricia you ok?" Brian called trying to find the doorway of the room.
"Yeah I just walked into the wall." She said.
"Nick do you have any flash lights?" Arielle asked.
"Yeah they're upstairs. Who's gonna come with me?" He asked.
They all exchanged glances before Justin stood up. "I'll come."
Justin and Nick left the room as Tricia entered the room.
"Oh my god that was so scary." She said, "I was washing my hands when all of a sudden the lights went out."
"Nick probably set this whole light thing up." Howie said.
Brian nodded. "Probably."
"He thinks he can scare us with little childish pranks." Brooke said as Justin and Nick came back with a few flashlights.
"Oh so you think I did this?" Nick asked handing Brian a flashlight.
"Well who the fuck else would?" AJ asked.
"I have no idea." Nick said. "But I'll tell you it wasn't me."
Ali crossed her arms in front of her chest. "And how do we know you're telling the truth?"
"Because I set the lights to go off at eleven thirty." He said shining the flashlight on his watch. "And it's only nine fifteen."
"None of the other houses around yours have lost power." Joey stated. "Which means you're either lying to us or someone turned the lights off."
Nick thought for a minute. "Why don't we go check the fuse box then."
"I'll go with you." Joey said getting off the couch. "Hope stay here."
"Mon there's candles in the kitchen. Light a few and put them in the here." Nick said before leaving the room with Joey.
Nick and Joey went out the kitchen door then walked around to the side of the house where the fuse box was located.
"Let's have a look here." Joey said grabbing the flashlight away from Nick and opening the fuse box. He shined the light over the switches and knobs then closed the cover. "Well it's still set for eleven thirty. I guess you were telling the…"
A loud scream inside the house left Joey mid sentence.
"What the hell was that?" Nick asked looking at Joey.
"I have no idea." He said as they both ran in the direction of the kitchen door.
