» CHAPTER THREE «

The limo is empty except for the driver and my backpack, which rests on my lap. As I stare out the window my mind succumbs to the what-ifs that trigger my insecurities. What if they don't like me? What if I choke in front of all those people on the first performance? I contemplate these questions and before i know it the limo has reached the airport.

I step out of of the limo and onto the curb. The driver gives me instructions as to where to go, and tells me he will take care of my luggage. I thank him again and then head into the crowded airport. The butterflies in my stomach have begun to beat their wings as hard and fast as they can. My gate is difficult to find, and I fear I will be late for the flight.

Finally, I find it. Gate G25. The flight has just begun boarding. I can't decide whether to start to get on the plane or try to find the Backstreet Boys. I glance around anxiously, looking for a sign of them, but there is none. I figure they boarded early to avoid any screaming teeny-boppers.

"Hi, are you Claire Sullivan?" I hear a voice next to me. I turn and see a middle-aged woman with brown hair and brown eyes. Immediately I know who it is: Mrs. Mclean, AJ's mother.

"Oh, hi..yeah, that's me," I say nervously. Mrs. Mclean smiled.

"Hello, Claire. I'm Mrs. McLean, AJ's mom. I was told to wait out here for you. The boys have already boarded the plane and they're waiting for you." We start to walk towards the entrance to the plane. "Are you nervous?"

"Yeah, a lot," I say and laugh. Mrs. McLean laughs too; I know I'm going to like her.

"Aw, don't be. The guys are very nice, and they're all excited to meet you. They were very impressed with your performance, you know."

"Really?" I can feel myself blush.

We've reached the plane now, and Mrs. McLean says good-bye and heads to her seat. I look at the ticket and start to go to my seat. (Author's Note: it's one of those planes where the seats go 3, 5, 3..a big plane..oh yeah, and they're flying to England too) My seat is on the left side of the plane, in the middle of the three seats.

I reach my seat and my eyes go wide in shock as I see who I am sitting next to. Yes, I knew that this moment would come when I would meet them...but I was speechless as I looked at Brian staring out the window of the plane.

"Hi, are you Claire?" a voice says from behind me.
