Miracle Bones

October 23, 2001-March 25, 2003

Where do i begin on this one. Miracle is definatly our first emergency rescue ferret. My mother in law was looking through an ad bullitin and came across his add. Ferret for sale $50. So, she picks me up, and we go to the ladys house. She says its her kids ferret, and he's red. So, im thinking im going to see a nice fat fuzzie thats been took care of. Boy, was i wrong! For one, i couldnt even see the little guys cage, it was so covered with clothes and litter, and you name it. The cage was shoved in a far corner, pushed out of the way. Anyways, she gives me the ferret, his whiskers have fallen off, his fur is dry, coarse, very short, very nappy. His foot pads were cracked and broken, you could count every rib in his body. I dont know, it hurts to really go into detail. To sum it all up, he had that look in his eyes, just saying, please, let me die. I knew then that he was coming home with me. We gave the woman the money, piled the nasty 2X2 cage, poop and all in the back of the truck, and i held the ferret in my arms. She said we feed it dog food i think, its my kids ferret, i dont know his name, its my kids ferret, i dont know this, i dont know that, and she LAUGHED about it the whole time!!! UGH! Anyways, i was suppose to making this short wasnt i? So, we get in the truck, take him to see my vet, give him his shots (because, its the kids ferret, i dont know if its had its shots) He is so thin, he breaks the needle. Dr.Stephenson said he is severly malnurished, to get him started on the proper diet immediatly, and to keep him quarenteened from the other ferrets for two weeks. So, hes home now, up to date on shots, and hes starting to get a little sparkle back in his eyes. We war danced together, and shared the joy of Ferretone, and Cheweasels. Miracle has became fast friends with Cassidy, and has a whole new cage to sleep in. The one he WAS living in was cleaned and put up somewhere. No wire floors for this baby anymore. He's been here since October 23,2001. He was said to be a year and a half old. I'm not sure what kind of ferret he is yet, but as soon as i find out something, i'll let you all know. Oh yea, we weighed him at the Vets office to....he weighed 1.8 pounds. Sad, it brings tears to my eyes. Those of you who have male ferrets know they should weigh atleast 3 pounds. Anyways, this is the story of Miracle. I think his new name fits him, and I KNOW HIS NAME!
UPDATE:Miracle has been in the Veterinary Hospital since Friday morning. Two days after we rescued him, he became seriously ill. He started throwing up, and he got the green poopies, and stopped eating and drinking. The vet is aggresively treating him at the moment. He is getting 2 injections a day of fluids, vitamins, and something else to help with whatever is ailing him. The Vet at the moment is thinking a Viral Infection. But is not for sure yet. He might be able to come home Monday. I will update on his situation as soon as i know whats going on. Thank You.......
Well, Miracle spent 6 days in the hospital fighting off some kind of a viral infection. I was told to start him on a Pedialyte/Water mixture, and put him on Chicken Baby food to help him. He was also on some antibiotics for a while as well. Although he is not completely better yet, i do think i see an improvement. Another UPDATE, well, today is February of 2002, and Miracle is doing just fine. He still has his good days and his bad days. Some days he just don't have the energy that he should. But, he loves to play when he does! Some of his favorite things to do are, drag the smallest ferret to his hidey hole. Hide Cheweasels under the chair, and play in his tubes while laying upside down. Miracle now weighs close to 3 pounds, and all his fur and whiskers have grown back to normal. He is loving life, and has that sparkle in his eye, that every ferret lover loves to see. I Love you Miracle, hopefully it'll be a long time before i have to cry for you again. Oh, i got my first kiss from Miracle on Christmas Day!

Miracle went to the Rainbow Bridge this morning-March 25, 2003. He was suffering for almost 24 hours, of not being able to urinate, and was in much discomfort. We did an exploratory surgery on him, and found his gall bladder was full of blood, and was the size of a golf ball, and one of his kidneys was enlarged, and he had a mass growth on one of his lymphnodes. He had cancer. I sadly made the decision to end his pain, and to let him go. I'm sorry baby boy. I know you had a good life while you was with me, and I'm sure the first thing you did when you got to the Bridge, was backed your little tushy up to the nearest corner, and pee'd like youd never pee'd before. Mommy loves ya baby!

I need a woman 'bout twice my age. A lady of nobility, gentility and rage. A splendour in the dark, lightning on the draw, Who'll go right through the book and break each and every law. I got a feelin', And it won't go away, oh no, Just one thing and I'll be OK, I need a miracle every day! I need a woman 'bout twice my height. Statuesque, raven-tressed, a goddess of the night. A secret incantation, candle burning blue. We'll consult the spirits, maybe they'll know what to do. And it's real, And it won't go away, oh no. Can't get around and I can't run away, I need a miracle every day! I need a woman 'bout twice my weight, A ton of fun who packs a gun with all that other freight. Find her in a side-show, leave her in LA, Ride her like a surfer riding on a tidal wave. And it's real, Believe what I say, Just one thing that I gotta say, I need a miracle very day! It takes dynamite to get me up, Too much of everything is just enough. One more thing that I gotta say, I need a miracle every day!
