JACKETS RALLY TO OVERCOME WAKE FOREST 9-8

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Whit Robbins brought Wes Hodges home with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth as Tech finally overcame a seven-run deficit to topple Wake Forest 9-8 in the ACC Tournament at Jacksonville.

Jeff Kindel sparked Tech's comeback with three hits, including a two-run homer during a six-run fifth inning outburst.

"I am definitely happy that we came back and won", said Tech head coach Danny Hall.

"I think we were fortunate to win. I didn't think we played as good as we needed to play. We didn't pitch particularly well and didn't play defense like we have been playing. We gave them some runs on the board early, but to our credit, I think we did bounce back. We had the big inning to get back in it. I thought that (Jordan) Crews coming into the game and getting some big outs for us and putting some zeros up there gave us a shot at it. I thought (Tim) Gustafson did his job and that (Matt) Weiters really got a big out there on (Ryder) Mathias in the ninth. I'm happy we won and happy to still be in the winner's bracket."
