Tech Career: 1997: Participated in USA Baseball Trials Jan. 8-12 at Tampa...Rated fourth best college prospect for 1998 draft by Baseball America...went 5-for-7 with home run and five RBI vs. Evansville 2/23...belted first inning grand slam at North Carolina 3/10...saw streak of 80 consecutive starts at shortstop come to an end the following day due to a hamstring injury...missed four games before returning to lineup 3/16 against Virginia Tech. Homered in first at-bat of that game as a part of a 4-for-5, five RBI effort...outing began a three-game, 13-RBI stretch...went on to miss first two weeks of April due to aforementioned hamstring problem...returned to action once again 4/15...later missed first three weeks of May with same injury before finally returning for NCAA Mideast Regional...reaggravated hamstring 5/24 vs. Washington.
