1999: Assigned to Class A Kissimmee....went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in Florida State League debut 4/8 at Daytona....suffered through 1-for-26 (13 strikeout) slump over nine game stretch before breaking out with two hits, including a home run and four RBI 7/15 at St. Lucie....outburst began nine-game hitting streak (17-for-33, .515 average with four doubles, four homers and 12 RBI).
1998: promoted to Quad City (Midwest League)....homered in each game of doubleheader 6/9 vs. Appleton....hit safely in 12 straight games (16-for-40, five homers) June 7-19....homered twice 7/3 vs. Burlington....homered in three consecutive games July 18-20....hit for the cycle while matching career-high with five RBI 7/23 at South Bend....named team's Player of Month for July while hitting .284 (25-for-88) with eight homers and 23 RBI....exploded for two homers (21), a double and seven RBI in five at-bats during Quad City's 13-12 loss at Beloit 9/2....selected as designated hitter on the 1998 Midwest League post-season All-Star team....finished second among the Midwest League leaders in 1998 with a club-high 21 homers and posted a .494 slugging percentage to finish third.
