    A funeral service and Jordan Masonic Lodge service for the
brother of Sharon Moore Pigg, Charles D. “Buddy” Moore, Charles 'Buddy' Moore - obit68, Logansport, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.
    He passed away at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
    Born Feb. 4, 1941, in Kokomo, he was the son of Victor “Buddy” and Dorothy Ford Moore.
    Buddy was retired from Small Parts.  He was a 1959 graduate of Logansport High School, where he was a member of the wrestling and football state championship teams.  He was a member of the Jordan Masonic Lodge.
    Surviving are two sons, Terence Donald Moore, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jason (Annette) Moore, Elkhart; three daughters, Michelle (Bob) Raxter, Phoenix, Ariz., Samantha Moore, Lakeland, Fla., and Melissa Catherine “Missy” Eagan, Delphi; three sisters, Sharon Pigg, Logansport, Lynnette Farrell, Indianapolis, and Anne (Pat) Fisher, California; companion, Susan Eagan, Logansport; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
    Dist. Elder Aaron Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

      Mary L. Pfaff, 89 of Logansport , passed away at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in Miller's Merry Manor.  She was the
mother of the late Barbara Pfaff Smith.
      Born September 14, 1919 in Logansport, Indiana, she was the daughter of William and Anna Kowaski Adair. On July 18, 1938, in Peru, she was married to Harold W. Pfaff, who preceded her in death.
      Mary was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
      A homemaker, she had also worked as a seamstress for H.W. Gossard.
      Surviving are Son-in-Law, Tom Smith of Lafayette, IN; and three grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Kay Smith; and one brother, Everett Adair.

      Dorothy May Lutes Dial, 92, Logansport, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, in Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport.  She was the
mother of Richard Dial.
      Born April 25, 1915, in Maumee, Indiana, she was the daughter of Henry and Nettie Davis Lutes. Her father was the founder of Lutes Motors. Shortly after moving to Logansport at the age of five, she began attending the Baptist Temple.
      After graduating from Logansport High School, she worked at Woolworth's for a period of time.
      On April 8, 1937, she married Clarence G. Dial, who preceded in death.
      Dorothy had been a fulltime caregiver for her father, her mother and her husband during their declining years. She was helpful to many people and she was a very good cook.
      She was an active member of the Baptist Temple and also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star.
      Surviving are one son, Richard Dial, of Logansport; one sister-in-law, Lela Dial Lutes, Logansport; one nephew, Ronald D. Lutes, Dundee, IL; one niece, Linda Lutes Welch, Logansport; two great-nieces, Beth Ann Welch, Orlando, FL and Kelly Smith and her husband Russ, Grand Island, FL; one great-nephew, Michael Welch, Garner, NC; and one great-great-niece, Chloe Elizabeth Welch, Garner, NC.
      She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald D. Lutes.
      Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, in the Mount Hope Cemetery chapel, with Rev. Alan Rodgers officiating.
      Fisher Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

     ServKelly Laine Carroll Buellices for the
daughter of Carol Douglas Carroll, Kelly Laine Carroll Buell, 46, Lafayette, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
     She passed away at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, following a stroke.
     She was born April 4, 1962, in Logansport.
     Kelly was currently employed in telemarketing in Lafayette.  For many years, she was a waitress at China Lane in Logansport.  Kelly was a 1980 graduate of Logansport High School.
     Surviving are her parents, Robert and Carol Douglas Carroll, Logansport; Son: Tyler James Buell, Logansport; Sisters and a brother-in-law: Krista Jaine Carroll and Kim and Shawn McLochlin, all of Logansport; Nieces and nephews: Shadd, Drake and Laine McLochlin, all of Logansport; Aunts and Uncles: Judy and John Dutton, Kenneth City, FL; Richard and Bonnie Carroll, Ft. Wayne; Priscilla Ann and Robert Witt, Jr., Hudson, IN; Cindy and Tom LaDow, Logansport; Good and loving friend: Chris Widner, Lafayette Several cousins also survive.
     The Rev. Ken Smith will officiate.
     Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

mother of Betty L James Frye, Edith M. James, 83, Logansport, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Marocco Funeral Chapel, Logansport.
     She passed away at 5:45 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, in Chase Center.
     Born Sept. 21, 1924 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Daisy Shuey Prophet.  She was married on Nov. 23, 1940, to Cecil P. James, who preceded her in death April 22, 2000.
     Edith was a Homemaker.
     Survivors include one daughter, Betty L. Frye, Logansport; six grandchildren, Gary Paul McCain, Chris Black, Larry Frye, Jr., Paul Frye, Danny Frye and Dennis Frye; 21 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and a very caring sister-in-law, Patty James, and her family (especially Jeff).
     Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Carolyn McCain; two brothers; one sister; and two great-grandchildren.
     Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
     Dr. Horace Smith will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Logansport.

     GravePauline J Klumppside services for the
mother of Karen Klumpp Maxwell, Pauline J. Klumpp, 103, Dayton, Ohio, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Mount Hope Cemetery.
     She died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, in Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton, Ohio.
     Born March 18, 1904, in Logansport, where she lived until she moved to the Dayton area 13 years ago, she was the daughter of Frank and Florence Threewits Sellers.
     Pauline was a member of the Order of Eastern Star chapters of Logansport/Royal Center for over 50 years.
     If you met her you would remember her by her smile and kind words.
     Pauline was more than a mother and grandmother to us, she was our best friend who will be greatly missed.
     Surviving are her daughter, Karen Maxwell, Dayton, Ohio; her grandson, Bryan Maxwell, Dayton, Ohio; and her granddaughter, Lisa Maxwell, Manitoba, Canada.
     he is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Carl A. Klumpp, her parents and her brother, Raymond Sellers.

Elizabeth "Libby" Hillis Tuthill    Services for the mother of John Hillis, Elizabeth R. “Libby” Hillis Tuthill, 91, Logansport and Dallas, Texas, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
     She died at 7:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas.
     Born July 15, 1916, in Muncie, she was the daughter of John David and Lelia Smith Rice. She was married May 5, 1940, in Monticello, to John T. Hillis, who preceded in death July 10, 1989. She was married June 15, 1991, to John B. Tuthill, of Dallas, Texas, who survives.
     Libby attended and graduated from Monticello High School in 1935. She attended four years at Indiana University, Bloomington, receiving a degree in English in October 1939. At IU, she was chosen to represent the university along with nine other women from each of the other Big 10 schools to represent the Big 10 at the World’s Fair in New York City. While at Indiana University, she belonged to the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was admitted to Morter Board, an academic honors organization.
     Libby was an avid golfer and won several golf championships in the area. In the 1950s, she was a Cub Scout den mother and also served on the Logansport Community School Corporation Board of Trustees.
In 1957, Libby founded Civic Players of Logansport, and in 1961, founded Logansport Junior Civic Theater. In 1976, she was the driving force behind the formation of the Performing Arts Council of Logansport.
     Libby also was a Realtor with the Alma Hill Agency and the Brokerage House.
     In 1988, she was awarded the Book of Golden Deeds for outstanding civic service to the Logansport community.
     Libby also was an avid bridge player, a vicious scrabble player, and she was almost unbeatable at playing Pounce. These interests continued up until the time of her death.
     She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
     Her proudest accomplishment was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
     Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, John and Anita Wolpers Hillis, Logansport, Dr. J. Stanley and Alice Gettlefinger Hillis, Indianapolis, and Mark B. and Patricia Aldrich Hillis, St. Louis; daughter and son-in-law, Jodi Hillis and Bruce McGrevy, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Rice Reynolds, Atlanta, Ga.
     One sister and two brothers, preceded in death.
     Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.

Kenneth Pugh's father, Gerald L. Pugh, 89, West Lafayette, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery.
     He passed away at 2:40 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette.
     Born May 18, 1918, in Mexico, he was the son of Thomas Pugh and Chlora V. Fisher Pugh. On Oct. 1, 1938, in Logansport, he was married to Ruth C. Lienemann, who survives.
     Gerald retired as a freight conductor in 1980 after 28 years with Conrail. He had previously been employed as a truck driver for National Cylinder Gas Company until 1952.
     He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II in the Pacific Arena.
     Gerald was a member of Logansport Church of the Brethren, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790, and American Legion Post 60.
     He had resided at the Indiana Veterans Home since 2001.
     Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald D. and Marian Pugh, Kokomo, Kenneth A. and Laurie Pugh, West Lafayette, Julian R. and Linda Pugh, Walton, and James F. and Susan Pugh, Sellersburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Bill Buskirk, Springfield, Ill.; one brother and sister-in-law, Medford and Norma Pugh, Georgia; two sisters, LauraBelle Long, Miami County, and Ruby Ecklebarger, Peru; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     Two grandsons and six brothers preceded in death.
     Pastor Mike Osborn will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Tom Barnes mother, Josephine S. “Joy” Barnes, 96, Culver, formerly of Logansport, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver.
     Born July 4, 1911, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Walter Smith and Ellen Mullen Smith. She was married to Charles H. Barnes, Jr., who preceded in death in January 1970.
     Mrs. Barnes was a 1928 graduate of Logansport High School. In her active years in Logansport, she was a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority and volunteered at Memorial Hospital for the Mary Dykeman Guild. She also served on the Neal Home Board of Directors for 35 years. Mrs. Barnes was a former member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
     Joy was a one-time Logansport City Golf champion and runner-up champion in the Logansport City Tennis Tournament.
     Surviving are one son, Thomas C. Barnes and his wife, Jean, Culver; two daughters, Patricia Moder, Chicago, and Ann Barnes, La Jolla, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
     One sister, Tamar Discher, preceded in death.
     Burial will be private.

     A Memorial Service for
John Kiesling's mother, Ruth Caroline Bellack Kiesling, 91, Fort Myers, Fla., forRuth Kieslingmerly of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007, in St. James Lutheran Church.
     She died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, in Cypress Cove Retirement Community in Fort Myers.
     Born Jan. 1, 1916, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of Gerhardt E. Bellack and Martha Scharbach Bellack. She was married May 29, 1937, in St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport, to Norman L. Kiesling, who preceded in death Sept. 23, 1984.
     Ruth attended elementary and high school in Milwaukee.  Her favorite sport was tennis and her father bought her a tennis net so she could play early in the morning before the tennis courts were open.
     She attended Valparaiso University and was elected secretary of her freshman class.  At Valparaiso, she met Norman Kiesling, a law student.
     She attended the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater the following year, and she worked for Colgate-Palmolive Co. in New York City during the summer before her wedding.
     She and Norman lived in Logansport for 47 years except for a brief period during World War II when Ruth and her children lived in Beeville, Texas, and Milwaukee, Wis.
     Ruth was active in St. James Lutheran Church and was a chairman of the Altar Guild.  One of her favorite organizations was the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League and she was an Indiana district officer and attended many LWML conventions all over the United States.
     She was active in the Noble Township homemakers group and was president of the PTA of Noble Township School.  She worked in the Cass County Clerk’s Office for several years.  She served on the Neal Home Board and was a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority.
     After Judge Norman Kiesling’s death in 1984, Ruth moved to Fort Myers, Fla.  She was active in Zion Lutheran Church.  She also enjoyed traveling with friends.  A special trip was to Switzerland for her grandson’s wedding. Her grandchildren fondly remember her special chocolate-frosted chocolate cookies.
     Surviving are a son, John G. Kiesling, Pawleys Island, S.C.; a daughter, Marlene Konsek and husband, John, Greenville, Wis.; a brother, Arno Bellack, Hanover, N.H.; four grandchildren, Stacy Domke and husband Jeff, Marietta, Ga., John Konsek and wife Tina, Greenwood, S.C., Michael Konsek and wife Mirjam, Sheboygan, Wis., and Steven Konsek and wife Hilary, Malmo, Sweden; five great-grandchildren, Emerson Domke, Haley, Noah and Evan Konsek, and Joshua Konsek; and soon-to-be two more great-grandchildren with the arrival of twins.
     One brother, Donald Bellack, preceded in death.
     Pastor Marvin Hinkle will officiate at the services.  Private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
     Ruth’s family will greet friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

 Robert Buck    
Don Buck's father, Robert R. Buck, 86, Venice, FL, formerly of Logansport, IN, died July 25, 2007. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport, IN. Burial will follow at the Metea Cemetary, Metea, IN. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
     Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Betty; sons Donald of Sarasota, FL; James & wife Judy of Kokomo, IN; Frank & wife Jeanne of Venice, FL: also surviving are 8 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren. Robert R. Buck, a loving and giving husband, father, and grandfather, was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, July 25, 2007.      Though sadly missed, we celebrate his home going. Born in Logansport, IN, August 25, 1920, he faithfully demonstrated unshakable love for his God, his wife, and his family. He was, on two occasions, the Cass County, Indiana, golf champion; and he was a runner-up Logansport, IN, city golf champion. His on-the-green putting was legend, and on one occasion allowed him to defeat the great pro golfer, George Bayer, in tournament play at the Logansport Country Club. As a home builder, he was a "measure twice and cut once" craftsman.
     He was appointed Logansport's first Building Commissioner and served the city from 1955-1956. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1981 after 40 years of service. He was a faithful member of the New Life Alliance Church, Logansport, IN; a Life Member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; a Life Member of Elk's Lodge # 66; and owner of the Logansport Hardees restaurant.
     We are poorer without him; and heaven is richer to have him.

The mother of Tamera Lynn Watts VanSpriell, Adelaide R. Watts, 100, Logansport, died at 6:19 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
     Born December 20, 1906, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Arthur W. and Blanche Tam.
     On June 29, 1939, in the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, she was married to Harry R. "Bud" Watts.  He preceded her in death on January 2, 2005.
     A homemaker, Adelaide was a dedicated member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the former Fidelity Chapter No. 58 Order of Eastern Star. She also belonged to the Associate 3rd Mother's Study Club.
     Surviving are two daughters, Tamera Lynn VanSpriell, of Superior, Colorado, and Sandra Lucille Jonas, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; and three grandsons, Jeffery Lee VanSpriell, Bradley Charles VanSpriell, and Jon Lawrence VanSpriell; and five great-grandchildren.
     One brother, Donald R. Tam, preceded her in death.
     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18th, in Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Ellison officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
     Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17th in Fisher Funeral Chapel where an Eastern Star service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Dave Hoover's mother, Virginia E. Hoover, died on April 15, 2004.  She was born in Hartford City on August 27, 1919.  She was married to Mark D. Hoover 1938 and he died on December 21, 1981.  They were married in Wabash, IN and moved to Logansport in 1947.  
     Virginia lived most of her life in Logansport.  In September 2002, she went to live at Caring Hands Health Care Center at Grissom Air Base.  Alzheimer's had taken it's toll.  Fisher's Funeral Chapel handled the services and she was buried at Everest Memorial Park on April 19, 2004.
     She is survived by son David, Peru, daughter Brenda Deel, Logansport, sister Francis, Wabash and brother Dave Worthen, Huntington, IN.
     Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents (Mildred and Fred Worthen), sisters Helen and Dorothy, and several nephews and nieces.
     She thoroughly loved living in Logansport and had many friends through the years.

Services for Sue Viney Kaufman's husband, Eugene “Gene” O. Kaufman Sr., 69, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
     He died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Chase Center.
     Born Oct. 19, 1937, in LaGrange, he was the son of Ned and Christena Weisenberger Kaufman. He was married Oct. 20, 1979, in Royal Center, to Sue A. Viney, who survives.
     A 1955 graduate of Piketon, Ohio, Gene was a union electrician and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War.
     He was a member of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge #585, Royal Center Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne, Murat Legion of Honor, Logansport Shrine Club, a life member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #60, Voiture #729 40 & 8, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3790, and a member of the Electricians Union Local #668.
     Gene was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his classmates and friends.
     Also surviving are three sons, Eugene “Gene” O. Kaufman Jr. and his wife, Marcie, Augusta, Kan., Cary D. Kaufman and his wife, Angie, and Patrick Ned Kaufman, all of Logansport; one daughter, Tina Marie Titus and her husband, Rick, Logansport; one stepdaughter, Debbie Cottrell, Kokomo; one brother, Richard “Dick” Kaufman and his wife, Connie, North Port, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.
     Pastor Gene O. Kaufman Jr. will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military rites, will be in the Walton IOOF Cemetery.
     Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge at 6 p.m., followed by a shrine processional.

A funeral Mass for Bob Mordenti's mother, Lena H. Mordenti, 91, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in All Saints Catholic Church.
     She died at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
     Born Sept. 13, 1914, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Egisto and Assunta Jorroti Passerini. She was married June 18, 1938, in St. Vincent Church in Logansport, to Americo J. “Bud” Mordenti, who preceded in death Sept. 22, 1999.
     Lena retired in June 1982 after 10 years as a cook in the cafeteria for the Logansport School Corporation.
     Mrs. Mordenti was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, All Saints Ladies Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She and her husband were charter members of the William Paca Lodge Italian-American Club.
     Her family was the most important thing in her life.
     Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Diana Mordenti, Logansport, and Bob and Sue Mordenti, Delphi; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn “Susie” and Dave Dickerson, Logansport; one sister, Mary Scagnoli, Logansport; grandchildren, Tony Dickerson, Dan Dickerson and his wife, Stacey, and Dannan Mordenti, all of Logansport, RaeJean Thomas and her husband, Mark, Massillon, Ohio, and Joe Mordenti, Delphi; great-grandchildren, Connor Dickerson, Lena Dickerson, Abby Dickerson, Lauren Thomas and Breanna Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
     One daughter, Mary Catherine Mordenti, and two brothers, Joe Passerini and Dean Passerini, preceded in death.

     She died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in Miller’s Merry Manor.
     Born Jan. 27, 1921, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Elmer J. and Ethel L. Watson Gish. She was married Nov. 24, 1941, in Logansport, to Raymond H. Stratton, who preceded in death Oct. 10, 1983.
     Mrs. Stratton especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She regarded them as her own children.
     She also enjoyed playing bingo, euchre and going to garage sales.
     Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Joy Stratton, Logansport, and Robert and the Rev. Cheryl Stratton, Tyner; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Garry Boller, Logansport, and Joyce Ann and Sam Benner, Deland, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     One brother, Robert Gish, preceded in death.
     The Rev. Cheryl Stratton will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Pro Cemetery, Headlee.

      CINCINNATI — Graveside services for Ruth Snoke, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, Ind.
     She died in Cincinnati where she had lived with or near
her daughter, Julia Snoke Gilman, for the past year.
     Born in Metea, she was the daughter of Blanch and Clyde Davidson. She was married to Veryl Snoke who preceded in death.
     During her lifetime, she went from riding to school in Metea in a horse-drawn wagon to learning to use a computer.
     After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Ruth started her career as a social worker. She subsequently taught in Indiana schools for 24 years, 18 of them in Logansport. She earned a master’s degree in education from Ball State University. According to her daughters, many thought of her as their favorite fourth-grade teacher.
     After her retirement, she worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Purdue University offices as an enumerator, collecting data from farmers throughout northern Indiana. She retired from that position at age 85.
     In 1999, Ruth was named a Pharos-Tribune Good Neighbor Award recipient, which was one of her proudest achievements. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in Logansport clubs including the Rose Society, the Clay Township Extension Homemakers Club and the Twilighters Club. She was an avid gardener whose yard was featured on the garden tour.
     Her hands were never empty of a project. She raised violets to sell in the club craft sales, sometimes having as many as 80 started at once. Many a Logansport newborn child wore her handmade quilted coverlets.
     Even at 96, she still was ready to play one of more than 100 card games she had learned.
     Surviving with Julia Gilman are two other daughters, Diana Thompson, St. Louis, and Susan Ballou, Orange County, Calif.; one brother, Dale Davidson, Logansport; three grandchildren, Marc Gilman, Tamara Gilman Ackley and Suzanne Thompson Parsons; five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
     Two sisters, Georgia Davidson and Helen Penny, and two brothers, Wendell and Galen, also preceded in death.
      In lieu of flowers, Ruth would like for you to plant a rose bush to remember her by.

     Services for JoAnn (Jody) Harrison Miller's mother, Edith May Harrison, 88, of Caring Hands Health Care Center, Peru, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
     She died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, in the center.
     Born Feb. 5, 1917, in Walton, she was the daughter of the late James Garfield and the late Bertha Eldora Brock Kidd. She was married July 1, 1939, to Wilferd T. Harrison, who preceded in death April 13, 1992.
     She was a member of Miami Baptist Church, the Eastern Star and was a member of the Shrine since 1954. She had been a homemaker and had enjoyed traveling with her family.
     Surviving are four sons, William C. Harrison and his wife, Roberta, Lake Cicott, Ralph E. Harrison and his wife, Carletta, Fort Wayne, James Harrison and his wife, Norma, Florida, and Wilferd Harrison Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Akron; two daughters, JoAnn Miller and her husband, David, Tucson, Ariz., and Nola Harness and her husband, Rick, Lebanon; one brother, Clarence Kidd, Lafayette; one sister, Verna Azbell, Peoria, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Hallam, one sister and one brother.
     The Rev. Jan Hobbs will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.

     A memorial service for Paul E. Shoemaker, 87, of Mishawaka, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
     
Ronald Shoemaker's father died at 9:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
     Born April 17, 1918, in North Manchester, he was the son of Merle and Laura Squire Shoemaker. He was married in 1942 in North Liberty to Donnabelle Heim. Paul was later married Feb. 10, 1977 in Harlingen, Texas, to Betty Bird Harvey.
     Paul graduated in 1936 from North Liberty High School, and graduated in 1939 from South Bend College of Commerce.
     A veteran of World War II, Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, earning the Bronze Star service medal.
     In 1946, Paul began his career in the produce business with Paul’s Fruit Market in Plymouth. In 1954, he founded Shoemaker Fruit & Vegetable Company in Logansport, which is presently known as D&R Fruit Meat Markets of Logansport and Lafayette.
     He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mishawaka and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Logansport.
     Surviving are five sons, Ronald Shoemaker and his wife, Pat, Logansport, Dave Shoemaker and his wife, Connie, and Ken Harvey, all of Lafayette, Bill Harvey and his wife, Rhoda, Mishawaka, and Tim Harvey and his wife, Sue, South Bend; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
     Three brothers and one sister preceded in death.
     The Rev. James Richey will officiate at the services.
     Following the service, a gathering celebrating Paul’s life will be held at the Cass County Carousel in McHale Complex in Riverside Park in Logansport.

     She died Saturday, July 23, 2005, in her residence.
     She was born Sept. 27, 1982, in Rochester.
     A 2001 graduate of Rochester High School, Abby was a member of the girl's softball team. She had been involved with Rochester Youth Girl's Softball, including the traveling teams in both the junior and senior divisions.
     Abby enjoyed being with her children, family, and friends, and enjoyed music and various sports.
     Survivors include her parents, Tom L. and Angie Smith, Rochester, and Terri Romanyk, Logansport; sons, William T. Fisher and Aidan M. Richey, both of Culver; one brother, Cory T. Smith, Rochester; two sisters, Leighnee A. Smith and Kaelee G. Smith, both of Rochester; grandparents, Bonnie (Miller) and Karl Cory, Logansport, Toshiko and William Smith, Galveston, and Jerry and Kay Brown, Kewanna; great-grandparents, Frances Miller, Logansport, and Mary Kay Williamson, Winamac; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.     
     Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

     She was born May 22, 1918 in Peru, Indiana, daughter of the late Perry Demuth and the late Susie Ort Demuth. She was married to Billie D. Schache, Sr. in Peru Indiana on August 24, 1940, who survives.
     She had been a cashier for Standard Supermarket, she attended the Logansport Church of Christ.
    Surviving are her husband, Billie D. Schache, Sr. and Daughter, Shirley (George) Kistler of Logansport, IN; 2 Sons, Billie (Joy) Schache, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, Donald (Linda) Schache of Walton, IN; 2 Sisters, Betty Lee Dorsam of Peru, IN, Esther Demuth of Peru, IN; 3 Grandsons, Josh Schache of Peru, IN, Aaron Kistler of Dallas, TX, Matthew Kistler of Dallas, TX; four great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by parents and one brother and 4 sisiters.

    THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. -- Services for
Dorothy Sherrill Gibson's husband, Don C. "Bus" Gibson, 62, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Mortimore Funeral Home, Thermopolis, Wyo.
     He died Friday, June 10, 2005, in Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
     Born March 30, 1943, in Logansport, he was the son of Charles and Mildred Speitel Gibson. On Sept. 6, 1963, in Logansport, he was married to Dorothy Sherrill, and she survives in Thermopolis.
     The couple moved to North Dakota in 1983, to Montana in 1985, Cheyenne, Wyo., in 1994, and Thermopolis in 1997. During this time, Mr. Gibson was an electrical engineer for Getty, later known as Texaco. He retired in 2000.
     Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.
     He attended Community Federated Church. For 37 years, he was a member of the American Legion, joining in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His interests included fishing, computers, wildlife photography, scenic drives and visiting Yellowstone.
     Also surviving are one daughter, Licia Gibson, Fargo, N.D.; two sons, Eric Gibson and his wife Valerie, Biloxi, Miss., and Greg Gibson and his wife Nicole, Fargo, N.D.; one sister, Jane Eller and her husband Danna, Red Oak, Texas; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Johnathen, and Seth. A third grandchild, a granddaughter, is expected. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
     His parents and grandparents preceded in death.
     Pastor Bob Krider will officiate at the services. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crown Hill Cemetery, Powell, Wyo.

     Born Feb. 22, 1921, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Robert and Blanche Cotner.  She was married Jan. 30, 1937, in Chicago, to James Goldstine, who preceded in death Dec. 2, 1978.
     Phyllis had lived in Lafayette for the past two years.
     She had worked as a crane operator for the U.S. Steel Mill during World War II.
     Phyllis was a member of the former Ninth Street Christian Church in Logansport, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Logansport.
     Surviving are two sons, James Goldstine and his wife, Merrilyn, Evergreen, Colo., and Phillip Goldstine and his wife, Susan, Lafayette; three grandchildren, Phillip Goldstine and his wife, Denise, Fort Wainright, Alaska, Gigi Nay, Idaho Springs, Colo., Krista Goldstine-Cole and her husband, F. William, Olympia, Wash.; and nine great-grandchildren.
     One brother, Robert Cotner, preceded in death.

     A graveside service for Jeanne George Barnes' father, Robert C George, 86, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
     He died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Arthur B. & Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso.
     Born Aug. 6, 1918, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Earl and Romenta Chamberlain George. In July 1939, he was married to Evelyn D'Autremont, who died June 22, 1999.
     Mr. George graduated from Steel High School in Dayton, Ohio and Purdue University with a major in mechanical engineering.
     While residing in Logansport, he was employed at RBM as chief manufacturing engineer.
     In 1948, Robert and Joe McClain, a fellow engineer, bought land and opened the Skyline Drive-In Theatre north of Logansport.
     He was a member of the Baptist Temple, the Elks Club and Logansport Country Club, all of Logansport.
     Mr. George left RBM to open his own business, Royal Industries, in Auburn in 1968. In Auburn, he was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church.
     In 1982, they retired and moved to Rotonda West, Fla., where he belonged to the Rotonda West Security Watch. He also served as the Red Cross coordinator for Southwest Florida and was a member of Northside Christian Church and the Elks Club.
     Surviving are one son, David C George, Porter; three daughters, Anne L. Brown, White Health, Ill., Jeanne S. Barnes, Sanibel, Fla., and Elizabeth J.      She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, and enjoyed her many friends, neighbors and family.

     Charlotte attended Aurora College in Aurora, Ill., Purdue University and Ball State University. She was a teacher and homemaker.
     She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, West Lafayette, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Logansport Civic Choir, John Purdue Club, Purdue Presidents Council, and was a Logansport Community School board member.
     She enjoyed painting, art, golfing, and traveling to more than 26 different countries.
     She loved music and cooking and playing bridge.
     Also surviving are three daughters, Ann Pickett and her husband, Dr. John, Lafayette, Lyn Lang and her husband, Michael, Elmhurst, Ill., and Kristin Chittick and her husband, John, Paris, Ill.; two sons, J. Philip Johnson and his wife, Pamela, Prescott, Ariz., and the Rev. Craig-Davis Johnson and his wife, the Rev. Deborah-Davis Johnson, Portland, Maine; and 12 grandchildren.
     One sister, Roberta Whitson, and one infant granddaughter, Amanda Johnson, preceded in death.

     Born May 1, 1918, in Logansport, he was the son of Glenn B. and Beatrice L. Wilson McIlwain.
He was married June 15,1938, in Logansport, to Marjorie A. Lienemann, who survives.
     A 1936 graduate of Logansport High School, Mr. McIlwain retired in 1978 as a conductor for Conrail after 37 years of employment.
     John was the Big Ten Tennis Champion in 1935.
     He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Logansport Lions Club.  In earlier years, he was active in Boy Scouting.
     Also surviving are one son, John P. McIlwain and his wife, Phyllis, McMurray, Pa.; three daughters, Patricia Nelson and her husband, Wayne, Alpine Lakes, W.V.,
Mary Ellen Eubank and her husband, Eugene, Southwest Ranches, Fla., and Shirley Bowen, Logansport; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
     Two sisters, Margaret Goodale and Beatrice Tipton, preceded in death.

     Mrs. Wolfe was a homemaker.
     She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Third Mothers Study Club and the Logansport Elkettes.

     Born Dec. 22, 1915, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Dennis and Mary Heimbach McCahill.
     On June 14, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, she was married to Ronald G. Barnes, who preceded in death on April 22, 1964.
     Mrs. Barnes was employed at the Logansport Public Library in association with the Bookmobile and Extension Services from 1964 until 1981.
     Surviving are three sons,
Brian J. Barnes and his wife, Connie, Crown Point, Boyd T. Barnes, Logansport, and Dennis P.      Bettsy Bailey's mother died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in Carmel.  Born Sept. 13, 1907, in Fostoria, Ohio, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl B. Fish.
     Mrs. Bailey entered nurses training in Toledo, Ohio, at the Lucas County Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse.  While she was a supervisor of the Gynecology Department at the Lucas County
Hospital, she met and married Dr. Earl Bailey.  They were married in Luckey, Ohio, at Grace Lutheran Church on Nov. 29, 1933.  Before settling in Logansport in the late 1930s, they lived in Bunker Hill.  They moved to Carmel in 1976.  
     She had been a member of Logansport Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, Carmel.
     Surviving are one son, E.
Norman Bailey, Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters, Carolyn A. Bailey
and
Bettsy J. Hollingsworth, both of Carmel; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
     Her husband, Dr. Earl W. Bailey, and her brother, Fred Fish, preceded in death.
     Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
     Services were held Monday, November 3, 2003, in Trinity Lutheran Church.  KroegerFuneral Home was in charge of arrangements.

     Frances Huff Pruitt Henderson's and Susan Huff Rowan's mother passed away on Oct 5, 2003, in Indianapolis at St Vincent Hospital.  Margaret Louise Himebaugh Huff was born June 6, 1915 in Indianapolis, daughter of John and Angela Richardson Himebaugh.      She was widow of Boyd J. Huff (born January 8, 1916 in Monon, Ind.; died July 30, 1972 in Linton, Ind., married December 29, 1939.
     Survivors include daughters,
Margaret Mary Huff Huffman and Helen Angela Small, Indpls.; Frances Eileen Pruitt Henderson, Cincinnati; Susan Anne Rowan, Memphis; and Catherine Elizabeth Graham, Washington, Ind.; and a granddaughter she helped rear, Anna Margaret Huffman, Memphis.
     Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren.  Services 10-11-03 in Indianapolis.

     Services for Leona M. "Jonsie" Jones, 84, of Columbus, formerly of Logansport, mother of Barb Jones Burkenpas, was held recently in Kroeger Funeral Home.
     She died at 3:55 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Columbus.
     Born April 26, 1919, in Logansport, she was the daughter of John and Minnie Henning Hoover.
     She was married in 1938, in Logansport, to Mervil H. Jones, who died in April 1954.
     Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law,
Barbara and Pete Burkenpas, Lafayette, and Sandra "Sandy" and Dr. Charles Hatcher, Columbus; one sister, Christina Wakeman, Miami, Fla.; five grandchildren, David Pugh, Karen Grove, Holly Cannon, Christy Healy and Jason Hatcher; six great-grandchildren.
     One son, Robert Michael Jones; and 11 siblings preceded in death.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport.
     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or a favorite charity.

Kathie McCain Pate's 83 year old mother, Hermine F., passed away in her residence in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 27, 2002.  She was married to Robert F. McCain, who preceded in death.  She was a homemaker and a member of Mary Our Queen Catholic Church.
     Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Mary and William Kimberling, Omaha, Neb., and Kathaleen and Olin Pate, Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Jeanne Medland, Pentego, Texas, Lorraine Obenchain, Pittsburgh, and Jackie Sum and her husband, Robert, Banning, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
     One son, Robert L. McCain, preceded in death.
     Burial will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.  (1-29-02)

    Judy Scarpellini Hollingshead's mother, Mamie Scarpellini, died Saturday, 9-1-01, in Kokomo.  She was 82 and had worked for thirty
years for HW Gossard.  Another daughter, Cathy, was in class of '61.  (9-3-01)
