Quotations that rock my world!
It was very hard for me to narrow these down. Almost every day I hear something that I love -- that touches part of who I am. These, however, are ideas and thoughts that have stood the test of time in my warped mind. Things I remember still years later. I hope you enjoy them, too, and perhaps you can even relate to a few of them.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that." -- Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) in Say Anything

"Why are entire years strewn on the cutting room floor of memory when single frames from on magic night forever flicker in close-up on the 3D IMAX of my mind?" -- Mark Cohen from RENT by Jonathan Larson

"In great deeds something abides. On great fields, something stays. Forms change and pass, bodies disappear by spirits linger to consecrate ground for the vision place of the soul. And reverent men and women from afar and generations that know us not and that we know not of, shall come here to ponder and dream and the power of the vision shall pass into their souls." -- Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (However, I must confess that I know this from The Complete Work of The Civil War by Frank Wildhorn.)

". . . a dream is an answer to a question we haven't learned how to ask." -- from The X Files -- Mulder in Aubrey (2X12) and Scully quoting him back to himself in Paper Hearts (4X08)

"Clearly I was a sign of how far the country had gone downhill: an eighteen-year-old kid with no future, sleeping in a basement with a dying dog." -- from Lake Wobegon Days by Garrison Keillor (Don't ask me why I love this quotation, but I do. I have it bookmarked in my autographed-by-the-author copy of Lake Wobegon Days.)

"I want to be a comfort to my friends in tragedy, and I want to be able to celebrate with them in triumph. And for all the times in between, I just want to be able to look them in the eye . . . " Joshua Lyman (Brad Whitford) from The West Wing in the episode The Crackpots and These Women

And for now let's wrap it up with one more. This one isn't really profound (OK, so the others aren't either, but . . . ), but it is one of my all-time favorite moments on film. Aaron is just so passionate about both his beliefs and Jane. OK, I'm getting all misty. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this probably isn't going to make much sense out of context -- so go rent the movie!!! :-)
"And if things had gone differently for me tonight then I probably wouldn't be saying any of this. I grant you everything. But give me this: he personifies everything that you've been fighting against. And I'm in love with you. How do you like that? I buried the lead." -- also Aaron Altman from Broadcast News
