After the 9/11/01 disaster, Johns family was told John passed
his Lieutenants test. On 11/01/01 He was promoted to Lieutenant.

Hell here on earth...
Flames all around them,
they fought fire and brimstone every day.
So often they won saving lives and battling fires,
but some lost their own lives today.
They entered the World Trade Center,
to start a real life search and rescue.
Before they all realized,
that everything went askew.
The buildings started to collapse,
and became a massive human grave.
We are still hoping some will survive,
for all the lives they have saved.
The search and rescue teams,
dig at the site 24 hours a day.
Hoping to find one person alive,
relentessly digging as they pray.
If only some life is still there,
and some can be saved,
this mission will be a success,
for New York's finest and brave...

Tears Of Sadness-Made and Designed

Changing the New York Skyline...
a New York nightmare...
The New York skyline
was changed today,
the World Trade Centers,
have gone away...
And with all the
debris and rubble,
many lives and families,
felt the worst kind of trouble.
Rescue teams of firefighters,
police officers and other groups,
Gathered to save others,
like one massive military troop.
The terrorists struck
by hijacking planes
with passengers aboard,
but who is to blame?
Was it Afghanistan, or Libya,
or maybe Iraq, Palestine, or Iran?
These terroism attacks
are getting out of hand.
The rude awakening came,
on this late summer morning.
America was under attack,
and there was no formal warning.
The families of the victims,
will never forget this day.
When terrorism struck
taking loved ones away.
Death and debris,
everywhere on the streets,
Not knowing what they'd find next,
volunteers work without retreat.
The responsibility lies
through hateful feelings
toward all Americans,
who will start slowly healing.
My family was hit hard,
a firefighter was first in,
when the building collapsed,
and took his life away from him...

You were always there...
As I sit here and pray in church,
I have you on my mind.
I pray they complete the search,
and God makes them find you alive.
Whenever something was scheduled,
I could always count on you.
You always put family first,
even if there was something else to do.
You are a dedicated father,
and a good husband too.
You always have others on your mind,
no matter what you chose to do.
You reached out and saved many lives,
but when it came time you couldn't save your own.
Your life was cut so very short,
by terrorist forces still unknown.
You entered burning buildings,
you put your fears aside.
Caring about families trapped,
more important were those inside.
As I sit here and ponder,
and wonder if you are alive,
I pray that a miracle will happen,
because a miracle will help you survive...

1/11/02...The Aftermath...
Four months have come and gone,
and you still aren't around,
I felt things wouldn't change much,
because your remains were never found.
Memorials and tributes have been written,
all of them to no avail,
none of them can bring you back,
they just leave a barren trail.
Memories of you are so pleasant,
and heartwarming as I see your smiling face,
but all of the memorials and tributes; including my own,
just send all of us an empty embrace.
I know where you live now,
because I knew you rather well,
and because a firefighter like you is in heaven,
on earth your job was like "fighting hell."
There's no fires for you to fight anymore,
and no more people's lives to save,
once they reach heaven like you did,
you live in the home of the faithful and brave...
Dedicated to my nephew "Lieut. John"...after 4 months the pain has not diminished....LFUB

It was a cool and misty morning Saturday June 15th, 2002. A day that will live on forever in my heart and soul. It was the first time I had seen my niece Ann and my great nieces Emma and Elizabeth since their Dad's memorial services. The Lakeland Fire Department in Ronkonkoma, NY built a brand new Fire Station #2 and it was dedicated to our nephew Lt. John P. Napolitano and his fallen comrade, firefighter Bill Mahoney. The dedication went beautifully, but the sad part is that Johnny and his buddy Bill can never be replaced. Many politicians, dignitaries, and the Pastor of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Ronkonkoma, NY made tribute speeches to Johnny and Bill. Johnny and Bill's memory live on....to Johnny, Ann, Emma and Elizabeth, as I always signed an email...LFUB....L (Love), F (From), U, (Uncle), B (Bob)
We also had a ceremony that week at our office and our administrator, dedicated a statue to all those "Quiet Heroes" who worked at "ground zero." A beatiful bronze statue of the American Eagle was place in our lobby honoring those who worked so diligently trying to identify more remains of those who perished at the WTC. This poem will be placed next to that statue for all the visitors and employees to view and it is dedicated to all the "ground zero" workers....
Quiet heroes...
There are quiet heroes all around us,
Those who worked around the clock,
They haven't been forgotten,
They must be thanked a lot...
They worked at "ground zero,"
Searching for evidence,
They never faltered once,
God Bless them for their diligence...
The families of those fallen,
Pray they are not forgotten, but blessed,
When our country was in need,
They did their very best...
Dedicated to all the workers and kind souls at "ground zero" they are today's "Quiet heroes" who searched for all the missing heroes and all those who lost their lives at the WTC.
God Bless America

9/11...to...9/11
A year has come,
and a year has gone...
no more news from anyone,
that your remains were found...
Every time there's a memorial,
a tribute or a dedication,
the family's wounds open again,
and it repeats our frustration...
You are a man we'll always remember,
and all of us will never forget...
The pain of it all is that,
those responsible will never regret...
The sins they committed,
are meritorious to them,
their sick and distorted ways,
we hope to never see again...
All of our pain and sorrow,
will never bring you back to us,
Dear Johnny you are so missed,
having you in the family we were blessed...
Johnny, This will be the last dedicated poem written by me in your honor...the wounds reopen all the time and will take a long time to heal...but you will NEVER be forgotten...LFUB
