~*~-Rei Kon-~*~ | ||||
Rei is one of the more interesting characters in the series. He's quiet, but not withdrawn, like Kai. He nows how to have fun, but is not hyper-like Max. And he's confident (Probably a bit over-confident) like Tyson, but knows his boundaries...Most of the time. He doesn't seem to fall into any mould. Sure, in most anime/cartoon-series there is always a character like him. Self-reserved, independant, but pulsating with confidence. But there's just something about Rei that you can't quite put your finger on. Maybe it's the way he goes through mood swings so quickly.... Maybe it's the way he's always beleiving in himself, even when he knows the odds are stacked against him. Or it could just be those fangs he has popping out the corners of his mouth, ^^; Rei is onne of those people that watches himself carefully, and wont reveal too much about himself (alot like Kai o.o;) . He came from such a close-knit community it's not hard to see why he'd hide himself from the rest of the world. There are a few instances, however, that Rei really comes out of his shell. Like Episode 16 "My Enemy,My friend" This is the first time we ever get to see the real Rei. It's the episode where he's battling Mariah, and they get past their differences, rekindling their friendship. It's obvious he's enjoying being with his old friend again, and this seems to make him open up. As Tyson said "I've never seen Rei this happy before" He's quite skeptical of those he doesn't know, and often under estimates them, which gets him into quite a bit of trouble. Take, for example, the episode he battles Tyson in the regional qualifiers. It's obvious how much he under estimated the boy. As soon as he had won the first round, he took off, claiming that the younger boy was no match for him. Mr. Dickenson coaxes him to go back, and he does. And lkoses the next round, after which, he forfeits. He sometimes beleives in him self just a little too much, but at least he can admit when he's defeated. Rei is often confused by others emotions, and when he thinks someone's innocent enough to beleive, he lets his guard down way too far. In one episode, he and his old-team mate Kevin, from the White Tigers, are battling - trying to win a disk of Kenny's that has all of his data downloaded onto it (Kevin stole it). As soon as Rei ges the upper hand, Kevin begins a sob story about how sad he was that Rei had left the White Tigers, and how he couldn't beleive that he was just going to destroy his blade. Rei falls for it, and his link with Driger begins to fade. Apparently, if you dont battle with all your heart, mind and soul at 100%, your Bitbeast will leave you. Unfortunately for Rei, Driger takes off- somewhat disgusted by his blader. Kevin, of course- being the manipulative little monkey he is- laughs and boasts to Rei about how stupid he is-to actually beleive him. Of course, later in the series, Driger returns when Rei starts to get his confidence back up. So does this mean Rei is a gullible fool? Not necessarily, is just means he has to learn to trust his instincts, instead of what other people tell him. REI; THE GOOD: Sharp senses, a nose for trouble. Kind nature. Self-beleif. Knows his boundaries. Has quite a good sense of humour. And...THE BAD: Too over-confident. Judges people quickly. Tends to over-think situations HE'S AT HIS BEST WHEN: He's by himself. Somewhere where he can be at peace with nature, like in a forest, or in the mountains. A place where he wouldn't have to think too much.... HE'S AT HIS WORST WHEN: He's in a position where he can think too much. HIS GOAL IN LIFE: To show the world the power of his Bitbeast, Driger. |
