"I...I think I'm in love!" he blurted. Max looked at his best friend and blinked.
"Tyson. Are you...Alright?" he asked. Tyson's smile grew and he nodded fervently.
"Oh I'm better than alright, Maxy! In fact, I've never been better!"
"Tyson. By the looks of her, she'd be at least fifteen." Kenny said. Tyson growled .
"Age is no limit!" he cried. "I'm sure she'll still love me!I mean come on! What girl wouldn't find me irresistable?" The other two boys sweatdropped and Rei just shook his head in disbelief.
"Tyson, somehow I don't think you'd be her type." he said, also leaning over the girl.
"What!? Rei! What are you trying to say!? Ohhhh, you had better not try and steal her away from me, Rei!" Tyson cried, shking his fist. Rei smiled and shook his head.
"No way. She isn't my type." Max shoved his elbow into Rei's side and smiled.
"So who is your type? Girls with pink hair and cat ears?" he chided. Rei blushed lightly and turned away.
"No" he answered softly.
"Kai, where did you find this girl?" Max's father asked quietly.
"She just...Just stumbled into the warehouse and...Fainted." Kai answered, leaning against the wall, eyes closed as usual.
"I see. Well, thankyou for bringing her back here." Kai nodded and turned to go. "Aren't you going to stay, Kai?" He thought for a moment and let out something of a grunt.
"Fine. I'll be in the basement" he mumbled in that usual tone, walking out the bedroom door.
Rei looked after Kai and stood up.
"Yeah, I think I'll go train as well." he said, following Kai out the door.
Rei caught up with Kai in the basement, below the shop.
"So Kai, why did you really bring that girl back here?"
Kai shot off Dranzer, into the bowl. He kept his back turned to the boy who usually ignored him.
"I know what it's like to be hunted down." he said after a long silence.
"Oh my god! Is Kai actually showing a soft side?" Tyson's voice said from the stairs. Max's laughter was heard behind him. Kai rolled his eyes, but ignored the younger boy.
"Kai! Are you listening? I'm beginning to get the feeling your ignoring me!"
Rei smiled and turned to Tyson, who was standing at the top of the stairs.
"And here's me thinking you were going to stay by that girls bedside until she woke up." he said. Tyson thought for a moment, then gasped.
"Your right! She might have woken up! Oh man! How could I have been so foolish?! Now she wont think I'm the one who saved her!"
"Oh, and we can't have that" Kenny said sarcastically, also joining the others on the stairs. Tyson ran past him, almost pushing the small boy down the stairs in the process. Kenny scowled and folded his arms. "So thats the thanks I get for helping you guys win. Fine, I just wo-"
"Chill out, Cheif." Max said, looking after Tyson. "I think he's just.... Actually, I don't have any explanation at all for his abnormal behaviour."
Rei looked up at his younger friend, eyebrow raised.
"Max....I think you've been hanging around Kenny too long." The Cheif's scowl became deeper.
"I resent that!" he said sulkily. Rei smiled and looked back at Kai.
"Hey Kai, I haven't battled you in a long time, what do you say?"he said, holding Driger S out in front of him.
"No way. Driger is no match for my Dranzer" Kai answered. He launched off his blade into one of the bowls. Rei watched it for a moment, then shrugged.
"Suit yourself, Kai."
That was when they heard a thunder of someone rolling down the stairs. Max and Kenny let out suprised yells, and began to run straight down the steps.
You would too if you had a Tyson- boulder crashing after you.
"And dont you ever come near me again, you little pervert!" an angry voice screamed. An angry, female voice. Tyson sat up and rubbed his head.
"I didn't do anything!" he whined. The other four boys looked up the stairs, and the girl was standing there, hands perched menacingly hips.
Already they had a feeling she wasn't someone to mess around with.
Her face contorted into pain and she she staggered to the left, almost falling over.
Max's father appeared behind the girl.
"Whats all this noise about, bo-" he stopped suddenly and grabbed onto the girls arm. "Your up! Are you alright?" The girl looked up at him and frowned
"I-I'm fi...." her voice faded and her eyes rolled back into her head. Mr.Tate sighed lightly and put an arm around the girls waist, lifting her off the ground. He looked down at the boys, his eyes falling on Tyson
"You didn't do anything to her, did you Tyson?" he asked. Tyson grimaced.
"No! She just went all wacko on me!" he said, face red from anger. Max's father raised an eyebrow in disbeleif. He turned and carried the girl back up to their spare room.
Leigh stared up at the black sky unblinkingly.
Wait
Black sky?
Confused, she pushed herself up- attempting to get a beter look around. She was surrounded in darkness.
It was everyhting, but nothing at the same time.
She shivered, folding her arms close to her body- a futile attempt at keping herself warm.
'But why am I so cold?' she thought uselessly.
An image started to from in front of her.
'This is one hell of a dream.' she reasoned with herself. ' I must have been completely exhausted.'
The image was becoming clearer, a swirl of colour twisting to form a picture. 'Why does this seem so familiar?'
"I'll find you"
The voice floated across the air (was it air?) softly, melting into her mind.
She knew that voice.
Of course she knew it, it was that voice that had always being in her thougts, her dreams...
Suddenly she felt her mind warping, and her body being pulled back into consciousness.
