FOGGIA
This province is in between Campobasso and Bari on the Adriatic coast.  It has flat farmlands (Il Tavoliere) and a mountain with forests! (Monte Gargano).  There are many cities to visit here, but they aren’t large, so all of them are walkable.
Foggia’s Central Station…contrary to most train stations in Italy, it’s surprisingly plain and modern.  The rest of the city is like that as well…most probably because it was levelled in WW2 by the Anglo-American front, and it was rebuilt ever since.
S. Giovanni Rotondo Hospital..founded by Padre Pio, who became a saint in 2002.
The church where Padre Pio is buried, still in S. Giovanni Rotondo.  My parents used to visit this town a few times when they were young....
San Severo from the train station.  The one original building here is the Byzantine church down this street, but it’s falling apart……well known for its wine grapes, though!
