After Harlem, it was time to head west to Mornignside Heights.  I couldn't believe it was just a 10-minute busride away.  People, architecture, everything made me felt I was on another planet!  You'll see why....
This is the Ulysses Grant Memorial, dedicated to the commander of the Union forces that won the Civil War and also President of the US from 1869-1877.  Inside is a museum displaying artifacts and describing his life.
MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS
The Riverside Cathedral, across the street from the memorial above..  What you see is only half of the church!!  Here you see joggers in the park, women in huge sunglasses walking poodles, limos tryng to run pedestrians over (me).  In other words, the income brackets have just gone up exponentionally, and the Harlem charm is gone....
A pavillion at Columbia University.  This is your standard classical university,  (except that tuition is $30 000 US full-time!)  What amazed me here were the students complaining on their cellphones about their dates the night before (yes, that loud, you hear the whole thing!) I guess I grew up in a pre-cellular age ;)
St. John the Divine Cathedral.  Full of gargoyles if that's your thing......the only church I know that charges ADMISSION ($4) for you to visit it!!!!  Once you're inside, NO PLACE TO SIT!!
No wonder Catholic Americans converted en masse over the centuries...........
