NAPLES
Naples is the largest city in southern Italy.  It has history and architecture (like the rest of Italy), but the people here go by a different beat, which is hard to capture in pictures.  The only way to appreciate Naples is to live it.
Il Duomo, where the heart of St. Gerald rests, who is the patron saint of Naples.  His blood must liquefy three days a year or Naples will be hit by apocalyptic events.  Those days are: the first Saturday in May, September 19 and December 16.
A typical street in Spaccanapoli, or Old Napoli.  These buildings are five storeys high and the street is only five meters wide!  Many pedestrians, some cars (why would anyone drive here is beyond me!), but the coolest part of these streets is that there is no sun, so people stay…cool!
Norman Castle of Naples. Almost every town in Italy has one, simply because the Normans didn’t invade only England :)  It’s a reminder that Italians aren’t just Latins, but a mix of many races.
A view of Naples from Castello S. Elmo.  In the back, you have the Vesuvius, in the middle the port, and to the right il Centro Direzionale, where you see the skyscrapers.
The town square of Capri, an island in the Bay of Naples.  This is where Napoliteans go for a day at the beach.  Very touristy, you’ll meet people from all over here……
