Mike Baron. Groundbreaker. Innovator. Artiste. These are just some of words that have been used to describe Kevin Smith.
	But they also apply to Mike Baron. Mike took what the casual observer would view as the requisite path to being a writer: Acquired college education (degree in Political Science), collaborated with a partner (artist Steve Rude) and worked a "day  job" (newspapers, insurance) until he made his mark. And made it he did with a groundbreaking series called "NEXUS" about a reluctant, all-powerful executioner. Proof of "NEXUS" ' enduring genius is that it influenced a whole generation of comics creators. Mike would then lend his unique voice to the "PUNISHER" at Marvel and help relaunch the character that ushered in the Silver Age of comics at DC, "THE FLASH".  A chilling series of Deadman stories would follow, as well as the creator-owned series "SPIKE" with artist Bill Reinhold.
