Footy Round-Up

a guide to the latest footy news from the Nationwide 2nd Division
Transfer News

Blackpool's failed bid for keeper Mike Stowell from Wolves is likely to see the Seasider turn their attention to Celtic keeper Stewart Kerr. He will cost them at least £250,000. Blimey!

Oldham have re-signed old boys John Eyre and Nick Henry and have also taken on Stuart Palmer from Wigan.

Huddersfield Town are interested in getting Patrick Stewart involved with the club. The former pretend captain of the fictional Starship Enterprise is a Town fan apparently. Bloody idiot I never liked him. "
YOU'RE NOT AS GOOD AS KIRK!" I used to shout at the telly, ah Nursie, is it time for my bath yet?

Port Vale have let Alex Smith, Tommy Widdrington and Tony Naylor go. They all step down a division to division three sides. Good riddance I say, especially to that Naylor - the big turkey.

Wycombe Wanderers are close to signing Neil Ruddock. Should be interesting to see him and Bullock kicking the living shit out of each other next season.

Wigan have signed Peter Kenedy from Watford for £300,000. Paul Jewell is reportedly interested in Northampton's Jamie Forrester.

Notts have signed Leeds reserve striker Tony Hackworth for a reputed six figure sum.

Cardiff City have made their intentions clear by signing Spencer Prior from Manchester City. They have also signed Graham Kavanagh from Stoke for a club record fee. They were also expected to table a 2 million pound bid for Bobby Zamora from Brighton & Hove Albion at some stage. Despite the exit of Bobby Gould, the bluebirds will fancy their chances this season.

Barry Fry's Peterborough United have signed 20 year old Tommy Williams from West Ham and Marc Joseph from local rivals Cambridge.

Cambridge United, meanwhile, have signed Tony Scully, a 25 year old winger from QPR.

Last season's nearly-men, Reading, have been busy slashing their wages. They have parted company with a number of players including Darren Caskey and no longer have the division's biggest wage bill.

Bournemouth will play 27 away matches next season. This is because their Dean Court Stadium is being massively re-developed and will not be ready until mid-September until then, they will play at Dorchester's Avenue Stadium which has a capacity of just 5000.

Bristol City manager Danny Wilson is heading for a bust-up with the Ashton Gate board. There is no money available for transfers and the former Shakers star is unhappy with the situation.

Northampton Town have signed Sam Parkin, in case anybody cares.

New Brentford boss, Steve Coppell reckons his side are going up this time. I think he's talking a load of old arse.
