Lesson 7 Copy a file to a floppy disk
When
you copy a file, the file appears in both the original and new locations. You
can copy a folder the same way you copy a file. When you copy a folder, all of
the files in the folder are also copied.
- Go to START, Documents, and
click on the file you want to copy.
- Click on the file you want to
select. The file is highlighted. If you want to display information about
the file, click DETAILS (on the left side bar)
- The Information about the
file appears, including the file type and the date and time the file was
last changed. Note to hide the information, click DETAILS again.
- To select a Group of files
click the first file you want to select; and Press and hold down the Shift
key as you click the last file you want to select.
- To select random files
click a file you want to select. Press and hold down the Ctrl key
as you click on each file you want to select.
- To select all the
files and folders in a window, click EDIT and Select All. Click Copy
this file on side bar.
- Once you have selected
the file you want to copy the Copy the selected items dialogue box
appears in the side bar.
- This area displays the
locations where you can copy the file. A location displaying a plus sign
(+) contains hidden items. To display the hidden items within a location,
click the plus sign (+) beside the location and the (+) changes to (-).
- Click the location where you
want to copy the file. If copying to a floppy disk click 3 ½ Floppy
(A).Insert an A floppy disk into the drive.
- Click on Copy at the bottom
of the dialogue box and the disk will record the file or folder.
Files
can be dragged and dropped to a new location and you will have two copies of
the file. For example you can click on the file in My Documents and drag
it to the Desktop in Other Places on the side bar. A copy of the
file will now appear on your desktop as well as remaining in your documents.
- To e-mail a file Click E-mail
this file on the side bar. Multiple files can go the same way as
above.
- A window appears that allows
you to compose a message.
- Type the e-mail address of
the person you want to receive the message. Windows uses the name of the
file as the subject. To specify a different subject, drag the mouse over
the subject and then type a new subject.
- Windows includes a message
that includes a message that indicates that your files are attached. To
use a different message, drag the mouse over the message and then type a
new message.
- Click Send to send the
message. If you are now on line a dialogue box will appear that allows you
to connect.
- To e-mail a file located
on your desktop Right-click the file you want to send in an email
message and a menu appears.
- Click Send To.
- Click Mail Recipient.
- Perform steps above for
sending the e-mail.
