BUMPER STUMPERS !

  1. The most popular bumper con is replacing originals with heavier duty bumpers off other years, makes, and models. For instance, replacing stock Chrysler bumpers with Imperial front bumper. Using a 1976 G.M. bumper on other years of vehicles is common and 1979 Chrysler Newport front bumpers on 1978 or newer vehicles. 1976 Buick bumpers are heavier on bottom than top and when flipped over they curl up in front of the radiator and hard to bend or tear through.
  2. Curling the ends of bumpers inward, is a common practice and legal. However some use this opportunity to conceal the fillers of steel that they have illegally placed inside when the ends were spread outward. The inner bar being filled with steel is common for the typical "cheat". Taking the chrome face off and the inner channel comes apart, then filling full of steel and then bolting the unit back together. A local guy was making these and selling them for big bucks, until we were able to spot his work and change the rules to ruin his bogus bumper business.
  3. Replacing the bumper shocks with solid pipe of the same diameter.
  4. Welding all bumper bolts and brackets to frame and bumper.
  5. Replacing original bumper brackets with "homemade" solid welded heavy connections.
  6. Cutting or grinding the bumper ends into sharp "teeth", which are intended to grab and rip tires, may also grab and rip auto bodies, officials legs, and hopefully your own...if you decide to do this.
